India's hottest stand-up comedy stars Standup Comedian Russell Peters, who's half Indian and half Canadian, seems to have irked the Bachchan family with his mindless and disgruntling comments on their bahu Aishwarya, suggest some B -Town insiders. Peters, who is in Mumbai to promote his film ‘Speedy Singhs,’ took a dig at the Bachchan bahu recently and said, “She hasn’t become a better actor. She is still good looking, isn’t that good enough?” When the topic shifted to her pregnancy, he joked, “Oh good job Abhishek, you finally knocked her up!”
Elaborating on the same, a B -Town insider said, “It seems Peters has a personal vendetta against Aishwarya because he has disgraced the actress and the entire Bollywood fraternity umpteen times by calling it ‘a piece of sh**’”.
Sadly, Speedy Singhs is Akshay Kumar’s home production and it should've been the actor's duty to have refrained Russell Peters from passing such a below the belt comment at his film's press conference in Mumbai.
“Akshay should ask Russell to take back his words or issue an corrigendum on his behalf, since the Bachchans have always had high regards for him (Akshay),” added another source.
Disgraceful comments on Aishwarya and Bollywood in totality, have caused incensed reactions from NGOs and political parties, who hold cine unions in Mumbai.
“Bollywood is a vast industry, whuch churns out more films than anyone else in the world and he (Russell) has no right to talk ugly or disgrace our industry or its actors. His comment on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is indeed in a bad taste, but I think his irrelevant comment should not deter or affect an actress of her caliber,” said Shalini Thackeray, MNS cine-worker's union president.
A leader from Shiv Sena, on basis anonymity said, “Who is this Russell Peters and why should we entertain him? I think he should be banned
