There's no doubt that Akshay Kumar really lives up to his 'Khiladi' nickname and his most recent adventure is solid proof to this fact. While shooting for his latest Cola ad in Malaysia, the actor had a surprisingly close call with a crocodile!
Akki, who is well-known for enacting risky stunts without the use of body doubles, came up with the ad's concept himself. He would fight crocodiles while white water rafting to save his Cola. This idea was agreed upon by the crew, which included crocodile trainers and shooting commenced early one morning in the jungles of Gopeng Perak. Akshay was to go white water rafting, jump down from the raft into the river, dodge the crocs and swim to safety but alas, things did not go as planned.
According to sources, when the daredevil hero first jumped into the water the crocodiles were at a safe distance. However, something went amiss and one of the crocs lunged towards him. The actor reportedly froze for a split second but then promptly recovered himself, grabbed the raft, swung onto it and started rowing away as fast as he could until he reached safety. His fast thinking and presence of mind saved his life! Thank God for fast reflexes!
Fortunately, Akki did not have to re-shoot the sequence as the unit got some great shots of the star with the crocs during his close call.
This is not Akshay's first close shave with dangerous animals. It can be remembered that he was injured while fighting with sharks for his 2009 action film Blue. Nor does it seems like the last, as the actor is planning to set a record by completing 12 years with the Cola company, the longest-serving celebrity endorsement which is sure to include more exhilarating stunts in the future.
As BollyCurry eagerly awaits the arrival of the snappy ad, here's heralding Akshay as the real 'Khatron Ka Khiladi' in B-Town!
