2011: Shahid Much?!

It seems that this coming year will be a difficult year for Shahid with the goal that he has set for himself. While this entire year Shahid spent most of his time shooting for his father Pankaj Kapoor's home production Mausam, next year is to bring a lot more to his plate. In this film, Shahid's character will be shown gradually changing from a young man to a more mature, wise and worldly man.
Just a few years ago, Shahid projected the role of Aditya in Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met and the role of the serious businessman garnered Shahid many new fans and loyalties. Later, Shahid worked in Badmaash Company as a street smart man who went from rags to riches and his fans appreciated this avatar just as much.

Even after the varied characters he has portrayed, Shahid has not quite managed to shed his 'chocolate boy' image quite yet. Well, it seems that he's now ready to lose it once and for all by portray more mature and intense roles. Not only that, but he also wants to be considered as a more serious actor now and one of the driving forces in the industry. In fact, in Mausam, the character that Shahid will be portraying will be one of the toughest roles that he's had till date.
It'll be surprising to know that Shahid's father still believes that his son isn't getting the roles that he should be getting. In fact, he also believes that Shahid hasn't been able to prove what he's worthy of till date, even after his numerous hits!
Well, Papa Kapoor seems to have created just the role for Shahid to show his worth in Mausam. Apparently, it is quite a once-in-a-lifetime chance for to get such a special role! All things being said, here's hoping this new venture turns out successful for both father and son!

Priyanka's New Man ?

After allegedly 'breaking up' with chocolate boy of Tinsel Town Shahid Kapoor, sources reveal that Piggy Chops has found the man of her dreams in her Don 2 co-star, Sahil Shroff!
Sahil is a model hailing from Mumbai who has modelled for several leading commercials. He was also seen participating in the reality show, The Amazing Race Asia.
Sahil's character in Don is believed to be of a supporting role with Priyanka's character as the main female protagonist. If sources are to be believed, the duo share some sizzling chemistry off-screen which then is magnificently translated on-screen. Being Sahil's debut movie, it is also been witnessed that Priyanka has been giving the new entrant some useful tips.
If anything at all, Sahil seems to be a charmer for sure!

Finally the race is over and Sonakshi Sinha has now officially been signed for Race 2, the sequel to Abbas-Mustan's 2008 hit, which has been on the cards for a while now.

After her much coveted and envied debut in Khans' home production Dabaang, Sonakshi Sinha has sure earned herself a top spot among this year's new comers.

The young girl has joined an already finalized ensemble cast comprising of Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone for the movie.
This piece of news has received confirmation from the producers and Sonakshi herself.

" Read somewhere I'm doing kunals next with shahid! Love how they knw even before me :p uska toh nahi pata but have signed Race-2 fr sure :) " ((c) Twitter)

Preity Zinta with Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Campbell !

She may be woefully absent from the big screen, but Priety Zinta has certainly been making the rounds with ventures outside of B-Town including cricket teams, NASDAQ, becoming brand ambassador for various companies and now the actress has joined the fight for the survival of the wild cats!
For this cause the actress has been joined by none other than Hollywood hunk Leonardo DiCaprio and supermodel Naomi Campbell, all three of whom were invited to the Global Tigers Initiative hosted by PM Vladimir Putin in Russia.
Apparently, the two ladies first met at Vikram Chatwal's fashion show where they hit it off instantly and spent quite a bit of time discussing the alarming issue of tiger poaching. Since then Naomi and Priety have toured numerous natural reserves and habitats, raising awareness along the way.
For now the trio are aiming to give this initiative a push globally. With the tiger being the national animal of India, here's Bollycurry cheering on this dimpled beauty!

Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia to be launched !

It wasn't long ago when BollyCurry reported that King Khan and Karan Johar were planning to launch two new comers with their next project. First one, as mentioned, was Varun Dhawan (the younger son of David Dhawan) and the second new male being Siddharth Malhotra. Now, it is being heard that we have yet another lucky B-Town aspirant lined up for the grand opening into her acting career. Yes, you read it right. It's a 'girl'!
The girl in question is none other than the darling daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Alia Bhatt. The movie's plot is heard to be a love triangle with the two hunky men as usual, fighting for their lady luck.
BollyCurry wishes all three promising new comers the very best of luck!

Hrithik Roshan & Priyanka Chopra in Agneepath remake

Of late, there's no denying that we have seen more and more lengendry hits being remade with a modern touch. Yet another such film doing the rounds in the news for getting a modern remake is one of the super hits of the yesteryears, Agneepath. The film is to be directed by debutante Karan Malhotra and will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
To make matters even more interesting, the unique duo of Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra have been finalized as the lead pair. But the lastest news to hit this film is that Sanjay Dutt has also been roped in to portray the role of the main villian - originally played by Danny Denzongpa.
Hrithik and Sanjay were previously cast together in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir, which was almost 10 years back! Coming to the present day, these two are back again where the tables have turned. Now Sanju Baba will play the villian while Duggu will be the hero, a complete opposite of the characters played in Mission Kashmir.

For more information, keep an eye out on this place!

Salman and Kareena together again?

Ever since Sanjay Leela Bhansali shelved his project Bajirao Mastani, the director-cum-producer and music director has been quite hesitant in continuing with the venture.
Back in 1999, Bhansali had chosen Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan as the leads for his film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and since then, both have always been his first choice. But after a huge tiff between Aish and Sallu, things went awry and Bhansali put his project away for a later date in hope that the issue would settle down. Now that Aishwariya is happily married, Bhansali wondered about raising the issue once again with Salman but decided against it as it seemed like an impossible feat.

Rumours such as Abhishek replacing Salman in the film have long flown out the window ever since Bhansali confirmed that he has started to discuss the project with Kareena Kapoor. In his opinion, she suits the role of "Mastani" the best after Aish. Salman and Kareena's last movie together was Mr & Mrs Khanna which did not fair too well at the box office. But Bhansali's film may just bring luck, he believes that the duo have great chemistry.

Consequently, Salman will be cast as Bajirao while Kareena as Mastani, wife of Peshwa Bajirao. Mastani's story is of immense bravery and is as famous as the story of 'Jhansi Ki Rani'. Mastani went to battlefield to fight with her husband against their various enemies and is known to have sacrificed her life soon after her husband's death.

If Kareena actually lands the role, this sure one is sure to be yet another hit in her kitty!

Abhishek Bachchan to die in Delhi-6 ?

For the National Awards, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra submitted his film, Delhi 6 to the jury with an alternative ending to what the audience saw in the cinemas. It was this unseen version that recieved two National Awards.
When the film released in 2009, the originial ending of Delhi 6 saw Abhishek Bachchan's character surviving his inflicted wounds. The ending that was sent to the National Awards however saw the opposite with Abhishek's character dying at the end.
Many might wonder how a film with an alternative ending came to be eligible for the National Awards. In fact, Rakeysh Mehra wanted Abhishek's character to die all along. Despite the death scene being shot, they were always pressured to change the ending which then resulted in the ending that was shown to the audience. The ending was originally only shown at the Venice Film Festival, but to make it eligible and appropriate for the committee, there was a week long release of the film where the alternative ending was shown to audiences.
With the alternative release receiving a great response, Mehra decided to release Delhi 6 with the alternative ending worldwide. While the original ending was put on hold for a year, Mehra was pretty upset with the comments Delhi 6 recieved when there were talks about the film's failure. As a result, Mehra's confidence was put down. But faith was found in Oliver Stone who finally convinced Mehra to go ahead and release the film with the original ending.
Dates marking the release of the original ending are yet to be worked out.

Shahid Kapoor is back 'Break ke Baad' !

Latest news from the well known Twitter-land is that Kunal Kohli has finalized Shahid Kapoor in his next project. Tweets he,

"Shahid Kapoor and me working together in my next film. Will hopefully sign the heroine in the next few days. Will keep you posted" ((c) Twitter).

While currently the Kapur lad busy shooting for daddy Pankaj Kapur's Mausam, schedules for this untitled film are being put into order for April in the new year.

Kunal's movie with Shahid shall be a love story; music for which will be composed by Pritam while Prasoon Joshi is on the team for the lyrics.
A while ago, Kohli had talked of a future film with Saif Ali Khan (the director-actor duo of Hum Tum fame); but soon after he had notified his fans through Twitter of things not falling in place. One wonders, if it is Saif's rejected project that has been accepted by Shahid, but director Kohli denies it downright, claiming Shahid's script to be brand new. Fact was, Kunal clarifies, that Saif was signed up to do the film with Ashtavinayak, while he, Kohli, was just going to help the director. But since Saif turn down of the offer dismissed that chance, he diverted his attention to this new project with Shahid, which is solely his directorial.
Having worked with greater veterans of histrionics, the likes of Aamir and Saif, Kohli may have thought twice about signing on the comparatively speaking lesser experienced Shahid, but the director has great confidence in this young lad, believing that despite rather average fairing of his previous 2010 releases, the upcoming Mausam shall fall into line with other his like Jab We Met, Kaminey, and Vivah.
Kohli's own latest release, Break Ke Baad, is presently doing well at BO.

We wish the duo of Shahid and Kohli much luck for their first time joint project!

Ayan Mukherjee's Tough Choice!

Ayan Mukherjee had sure hit a jackpot with his debut directorial Wake Up Sid, featuring the very dishy Ranbir Kapoor in the main role, and getting to produce under the reputed Dharma Productions banner with Karan Johar.

Not surprisingly, the young ace director was looking forward to repeating the winning combination of casting Ranbir and working with KJo.

However, with the recently aired episode of Johar's talk show, Koffee With Karan, which had as guests Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone (both ex-girlfriends of Ranbir) having not gone down too well with the Kapoor parents - Rishi and Neetu - Karan is in for some estrangement indeed.

Going on record, Rishi Kapoor has said as much as deciding to not work with Dharam Productions for a while. And of course, it has led to upsetting the wonderful plans Ayan had for his second project. The Kapoors have told him in clear words to make his choice - between Ranbir, and the Karan's production house.

With this new tussle coming a-fore on account of a mere talk show - we wonder what's to come of it in the future. Will Ranbir Kapoor and his many love escapades ever stop coming in the way of the future he carves so diligently?

Sushmita Sen for 'Jafra' cosmetics !

Its not as if the model turn actor trend didn't exist in the yesteryear times, but one has to admit that what really set the ball rolling for the whole lot of the modeling world to foray into the industry at some point of their careers, were the trend setting '94 title winners - Sush and Aish.

And talking of the former, Sushmita Sen has reason to feature in news again. A famous face with the advertising departments, the actress's most recent conquest shall be to be seen as a brand ambassador of the international brand Jafra Ruchi Cosmetics India Private limited.

The company, apart from its beauty products sale, is also giving opportunies for future jobs by training women with marketing skills.
With Sushmita's unorthodox feminism and independent ways of life, the company has taken a sound decision by having her represent the brand and its lady-highs.

Music n' Masti - Bollywood's Top 10!

After a hiatus from our music-reviewers, BollyCurry is back reviewing albums of the week, and presenting the top ten tally.

Farah Khan's garish, loud and unapologetic-ally quirky productions make a mark with the Tees Maar Khan album which has made its presence known in the past few days owing primarily, the foot tapping item song Sheila Ki Jawani and playful title track of the movie.
Closing in on the first spot is the youthful Break Ke Baad album which relies on soft rock numbers such as Adhoore and Ajab Lehar, bust sadly fails at pulling together a true romantic number expected of his promising rom-com genre.
The more whimsical Guzaarish album falls in favour but keeps a foot in the door with Udi whilst upbeat albums such as Band Baaja Baaraat, Golmaal and the retro Action Replayy continue to entertain music lovers.

And with that summary of the past week chartbusters' performance - here come the soundtrack ranks.

Imran Khan took profit share for 'Break ke Baad' ?

There has been a concept in the past, of actors claiming their share of profits in the success of movies they star in, rather than just sticking with a fixed remuneration. It seems that young Imran Khan even with his not so long stint in the industry has picked up the smart move and added himself to the list of actors who earn manifold, hence.
Rumors have it, that for Break Ke Baad, Imran didn't charge one single penny on fixed contract; instead he choose the path of profit sharing on the gross earnings with the movie makers. While one has to admit that the decision is a fair gamble, we may also accept Imran's great self confidence in believing that the movie would set cash registers ringing at BO.
In his past films, Imran stuck to the orthodox fixing his sign up value trend, and BKB is the first time that he ventures to take the risk of profit sharing.

While it would be interesting to know more about the kind of understanding the producers and director had with their male protagonist over his pay, Kunal Kohli keeping ethics on priority keeps mum about the details.

A dicey scheme of affairs... and yet. Your take will be?!

SRK & KJo to launch 2 Debutants next year !

Karan Johar is known to have introduced many young and talented directors, giving them a much needed platform to make it successful in the Indian film fraternity. He is to be credited for many of the hits we have had this year including the super-duper runaways My Name is Khan, I Hate Luv Storys and We Are Family.
It is no new news when we say Karan and Shahrukh Khan are the best of buddies in Tinsel Town. Maybe this is one of the reasons why SRK has starred as the main lead in almost all of KJo's directional projects.
Now the buzz is that this tight duo is planning to launch Varun Dhawan (the younger son of director, David Dhawan) and Siddharth Malhotra with their next project. Both were Assistant Directors to KJo in My Name is Khan. The movie is to be co-produced by KJo's Dharma Productions and SRK's Red Chllies Entertainment, while the director is yet to be finalized.
We can think of no better platform for the newcomers. Good luck to both!

Amitabh Bachchan as a Farmer!

It might not be known to many but back in 2007, Amitabh Bachchan's status was questioned by many - among his equals and among fans alike.

Before you jump to conclusions, it had nothing to do with his caliber as an actor; Big B in fact was questioned about his status as a farmer. In Barabanki (U.P), Big B owns about 70,000 sq feet of land, despite being neither a resident or farmer from the town, hence significant hostility was metted out to the fairness of his ownership, by the lesser privileged.

At the time, the court of Faizabad overruled the case. Since then, Big B has definitely proved himself to be a farmer at heart by taking time off to go and visit the land that he holds in U.P. He has legally registered himself as a seed-grower by getting due permission from the UP Seed Development Corporation (UPSDC). These are the people who actually coordinate and enhance the farm output in the state of U.P which has now allowed Big B to work hard on his fields.
The big reason for his visit back to Lucknow was solely for a wedding though. He tweets: "In Lucknow for a wedding. Visited my farm .. and .. plowed my land .. drove my tractor, which digs and levels before sowing .." ((c) Twitter)
Big B didn't plan this alone though; his wife, Jaya Bachchan joined him, and together they toured the six hectare land they own in Muzaffarnagar down in the village of Lucknow district. Mr Bachchan himself owns 2.5 hectares while Jaya owning 2.4 and Abhishek gets his own share of 1.2 hectares.

Big B didn't leave any stone unturned in attending to his fields. The moment he got a chance, he jumped onto a tractor, leveling the field, which was followed up with sowing. On the experience, Big B further tweets: "Feeling my earth, the soil that gives us the crop .. working the machines that sow seed and fertiliser automatically .. joy boundless." ((c) Twitter)
Playing spoilsport however, a disappointment followed shortly after. Unlike many city dwellers, Big B mentally notes the downfall in the rain pattern affecting the crop produce of his land and the consequences that impact agriculture. Making a mention of which, he tweeted: "Unseasonal rain has caused problems for the tilling and sowing the wheat crop .. if it rains any more, entire crop shall be destroyed." ((c) Twitter)

AB has definitely won himself the credit of many more hearts, among the struggling locals who watched the big celebrity in action on his fields - a humbling experience for Bachchan and the onlookers alike.

Katrina Kaif: The Barbie Doll

The British-Indian beauty Katrina Kaif has always maintained a 'Bubbly girl' image in almost all her movies. Whether it is Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani or New York, people have loved her barbie doll looks and pretty smile. Bollycurry has hence put the effort to bring its readers the best reasons for the beautiful lady to be called a barbie doll.

The Diva was seen walking on the ramp for the Lakme Fashion Week in 2009 dressed in a cute pink dress and her hair tied up high, giving her the perfect look of a Barbie Doll.

Fringes always give a cute look in ladies. And when it comes to Kat, there's no doubt that the fringes do magic on her already pristine features. She looked really adorable in the film Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani with her hair tied up on both sides like a small kid, giving her an innocent look.

She has recently launched the new range of Barbie after earning the title of 'Barbie Doll' herself. The first barbie was dressed up in the same costume she wore for the Lakme Fashion Week.

The wavy colored hair and her side fringe along with her British-Indian looks, not to forget her fair skin have helped to get herself tagged as 'barbie doll' even in somewhat of a somber film like New York.

Now that BollyCurry has started to look into the details about the barbie doll looks of the lovely Katrina, you all should definitely let us know your opinions!
