Kareena's 30th - A Shooting Madness!

Lately it was reported that Kareena Kapoor was in Latvia shooting for upcoming current movie with beau Saif Ali Khan. Surprising it was then for the lass to be spotted in amchi Mumbai around the time.
It seems that Kareena has managed to set herself up for a unique kind of record making with her recent accomplishment. In a matter of three days, she managed to shoot three ads that were back to back. And not only this, these ads were all respectively supposed to have been shot in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Mumbai.

Some travel velocity, that, not to forget managing three days of gruesome schedules
!
The commercials - two shampoo ads, and one for a beauty soap - were in a routine affair meant to shot and completed in a span of 9-10 days. But to have made it to three different and spaced out geographic locations, shot for three ad campaigns, and all of it within three days is nothing short of a marvel!

Sources claim a vital reason for her rush was beau Saif, who was waiting (with little patience we hear) back in Latvia to resume shooting for the movie itself. And three days, it seems, were the sparse little Bebo could manage to steal for her advert commitments! Not that the brand houses can complain much, what with getting a result in a third of the usual expected time, and resources!
Having turned 30 years old, this September 21st, Bebo sure seems to be facing no problem racing around with three decades on her back!

But watch out, pretty lady, catch a breath and live your time... meanwhile, here's wishing you a happy belated birthday!

Ferarri Ki Sawaari With Pritam!

If music maestro Pritam wasn't busy enough already with his professional commitments, here's adding more to his to-do list.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari. Pritam is working with Chopra for the very first time, courtesy his close friendship with Raju Hirani, but for whom Pritam never would have gotten the chance to work with Vidhu quite so soon.Of course, working with Chopra implies quite a chunk of his time shall be taken up hence.
Meanwhile, Pritam is also geared up to buy himself a newer, bigger house than the current residence in Goregaon. While the musician has no intentions of moving out of this northern Mumbai locality itself, on his wife's insistence and his personal conviction about the matter, he believes that his work and family requirements call for a larger residence now. Of course, moving places is going to be a time consuming task on its own. Its another woe also, that Pritam shall no longer be close neighbors with friend and colleague, director Anurag Basu.

Salman and Kareena back again!

It's confirmed!

Kareena Kapoor will star opposite Salman Khan in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri's next project, a remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard. Their jodi as husband and wife did not fair too well earlier with Mr and Mrs. Khanna and even before that with Kyunki. However, the duo have yet another chance to prove themselves as an onscreen couple to live up to the expectations of their ardent fans.

Siddique, maker of the original movie, is working on not just this mentioned Hindi version, but also on a Tamil one. Eid time in December has been proposed for the bolly release. While Arbaaz Khan has pocketed Dabangg as a hit debut production, it is sister Alvira this time, in charge of the production department, along with hubby Atul. Director Siddique meanwhile, a fresher to Hindi cinema, has been diligently gathering as much filming gyaan from the producer couple as they are willing to disclose. Due emphasis has been given to add typical 'bolly tadka' to the Hindi version.

To put records in order, one must admit that Kareena did not receive this film first hand. Primary choice for this project was Katrina Kaif. With dates interfering, Kat had to turn down the offer, unfortunately. To avoid altering the Eid release plans, a quick replacement was suggested and implemented with Kareena stepping in.

Sallu and Bebo have still yet to make it a hit as a pair but Salman riding high on the recent success of Dabangg, his fans have all the reason to invest hopes in his upcoming venture. Sources have also been heard claiming that Bodyguard is being polished to make it an out-and-out Salman movie.
With Eid proving to be lucky for Salman's releases, here's hoping this movie too shall set the cash registers at BO ringing!

Guzaarish's Focus on Mercy Killing!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali brings back the much applauded chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen again, this time in a less glamorous and much more solemn avatar, compared to their previous hits, Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar. Bhansali's upcoming film Guzaarish focuses on the tender subject of mercy killing.

Fact for records - The cinematography and music for the teaser of the film has been done by the director himself. It is nothing short of impressive, Bhansali's work for the teaser. While Hrithik keeps his rugged suave long hair look from the days he spent for Kites, Aishwarya keeps up with her enviable elegance.

Guzaarish will witness Hrithik as a wheel-chair bound paraplegic, magician by profession. Aishwarya's role in the film will be of a nurse who is assigned Hrithik for a patient, while also playing an assistant to him, after separation from her husband.

It seems that after suffering for a while, Hrithik's character gets tired of his sufferings seeks euthanasia as his ultimate end. While working on this movie, Hrithik claims that he's started seeing life from a different, more valuing perspective.

Releasing on the 9th of November, Guzaarish is allegedly inspired from The Sea Inside, which also happens to be based on true story.

Malaika to endorse Zandu Balm

The news of a legal notice issues against Arbaaz Khan's production house by Emami for using product name 'zandu baam', without permission, in his item song Munni Bai had only just been reported by BollyCurry.

A new twist to the tale is on its way!

Apparently, Munni herself is going to be seen promoting Zandu Balm now!

The concerned parties have reached a mutual understanding recognizing how unnecessary it is to invite legal trouble either way.
As per the common agreement, the fame of this item song shall be employed also, as a means to promote the Emami brand product in mention. Arbaaz has accepted shooting a special advert wherein Malaika will be promoting both Dabangg and Zandu Balm.

And beyond that, Malaika shall even shoot for an exclusive advert of Zandu Balm, becoming their ambassador.

Katrina's Next Qawali Item!

After wrapping up her spicy shoot for Sheela ki Jawani, Katrina is now ready for the next item song that her upcoming movie Tees Maar Khan expects of her. As was reported by our article not so long ago, this one is being composed as a qawalli, and we're getting to hear that Katrina will be imaging the famous look of Meena Kumari from old blockbuster Pakeezah.
The song will have Katrina accompanied by allegedly ex-flame, Salman Khan who is making a special appearance, and co-star, Akshay Kumar. It is said that the song will be known as 'Katrina's song' with surprises aplenty, in store for the audience.
Like Sheela ki Jawani, details pertaining to this special qawalli number have been cautiously kept under wraps. But where secrets exist, so do means to have them leaked. Sources claim certainty, that the first half of the song is dedicated to the boys - Sallu and Akki. It's only past that when sizzling Kat finally makes an entry into the sequence.
The three actors involved, and director Farah herself, have several hits to their credit in the past, individually - here's wishing the team of them coming together to outdo all that is past glory!

Salmans Rs. 75 Crore Kick!

There's no doubt that Bollywood loves to splurge on its stars; which is probably why Sajid Nadiadwala demanded a whopping Rs. 75 Crore for Salman Khan's Kick!
Re-make of 2009's Telugu flick of the same name, Kick stars Salman and Sonakshi (Dabangg debutante) in a tale of romance, action, and a dash of comedy; which is slated to be released mid-next year.
However Nadiadwala has certainly added an edge of controversy to the project after asking for Rs. 75 Crore from Eros International if they wish to acquire the rights to the film. Whilst the company previously backed both of Salman's latest releases, Veer and Dabangg, there seems to be a huge question mark on this project.
Sure Dabangg grossed more than 2009's top earner 3 Idiots, and there's no doubt that Salman's star power is on the rise - but can we forget the huge losses Eros International faced when Veer failed to cover it's budget?

Sajid sure is banking on the instant success Eid release Dabangg has seen, to fetch him some exorbitant bucks. Should Eros comply?!

Aishwarya is my muse: Bhansali

Mumbai, Sep 23 (IANS) Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back with 'Guzaarish'. And he has once again teamed up with Aishwarya Rai in the film and says she is his muse. He also describes her as a timeless actress of Bollywood.

'Aishwarya is my muse, my jaan and I get terribly excited when I make a film with her because she is very, very special. Some people are timeless and Aishwarya will be there for another 20 years,' Bhansali told reporters Thursday at Cinemax, where the first look of 'Guzaarish' was unveiled.

This is Bhansali's third film with Aishwarya after 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999) and 'Devdas' (2002).

Aishwarya said: 'This was a very special film for us. We are glad to share this special piece of work with you before we reveal it to the rest of the world.'

The director was also all praise for his male lead Hrithik Roshan.

'I have never enjoyed working with any other actor as much as I have enjoyed working with Hrithik, just for the kind of talent he has, for the kind of person he is,' said Bhansali.

In the film Hrithik Roshan will be seen as a magician, while Aishwarya Rai plays a nurse who is estranged from her husband. The film will reportedly touch the issue of controversial mercy killings.

Bhansali has even composed music for the film as he couldn't rely upon anyone to get the right effect. There are eight songs in the film and 12 songs in the album.

'The reason behind doing music of the film is that I think I understand the characters and understand most what they would express musically than any other music director. Some deep thoughts are my concern, so whatever little music I knew, it was a sort of experiment. But I am happy with what I have done,' said Bhansali.

Jointly produced by UTV Blink and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film would hit the theatres Nov 19

Theater Renovation Preceding Endhiran Release!

A new found form of fandom shall soon evolve.

Apparently, a Mumbai based Arora theater, which is popular for screening the South Indian mega star Rajnikant's movies in B-town, has been shut down for renovation by its Rajni-devoted owner, Mr. Nambi Rajan.

Why?!

Because the robot flick Endhiran, starring the deemed demi-god of South India, Rajnikant, opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is scheduled to hit the halls soon. And raising the bar of his appreciation for the actor, the theater owner has decided to make this particular screening an unprecedented affair.

Never mind, that following the Ayodhya verdict clash on 24th September, the release date for Endhiran has been pushed ahead to 1st October. Mr. Rajan, unperturbed by the disruption in his original plans for the grand screening, maintains that whatever cost is incurred in this process shall be worth it, for Rajniji !

He explains, to those among media and audiences who are uninitiated, that Rajni fans down South celebrate Rajni releases in festive spirit, often painting their houses in rejoice. Why not a re-do of a movie hall?!

Sure, why not! One may dare envy then, the phenomenal stardom enjoyed by Rajnikant! Not forgetting of course, to wish his upcoming release the very best!

Ex-meets, Speculation Much?

Every time a couple chooses to part ways, gossip revolving around their consequent encounters begins to float around inevitably. One such time had to be the much drama accompanied split between former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the macho Salman Khan. Its been years since the nasty occurrence and although each has moved on their personal love lives, speculations about their chance meets continue to intrigue fans.
Why talk of this now?!

Apparently, the two ex lovers had a fateful rendezvous recently. Salman and Aishwarya were shooting at neighboring sites. While Aishwarya was shooting with Akshay Kumar for his upcoming show Masterchef as a promotional sequence for their upcoming film 'Action Replyy', Salman Khan was shooting a music video for Bigg Boss 4 where he is slated to play host. The curiosity of whether the drastic running-into-each-other would take place kept the air humming with whispers on both sets.

Fortunately, or not, the run-in never did happen eventually, serving to be an anti-climatic fall down for many who were anticipating some kind of showdown.
Some part of the gossip surrounding them is unfair, considering they have both moved on in their lives - and yet, isn't all the surround buzz an occupational hazard for celebrities of tinsel town?!

Upcoming DJ's: Akshay and Aishwarya

Bollywood directors are fairly infamous for going to extreme lengths to ensure proper promotion of their movies, with Vipul Shah being no less! For the promotion of his upcoming Action Replayy, he has some interesting tricks up his sleeve and we, like always, faithfully bring them to you!

Apparently, actors Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are going to be DJ-ing live and will play their favorite retro music at a night club as one of the promotional events for the movie. To be absolutely perfect, Akshay is learning how to scratch on turntables from a local DJ. Interestingly, Akshay is a huge fan of retro music and always has it in his car!

The duo are sporting the 70's look in their upcoming movie and to maintain character and theme, the two will be seen in similar garb at the event. Printed shirts, long hair, high-waist bell bottoms and a big belt buckle is what Akshay will be sporting while Aish will be seen in low-waist polka dot shirts with ties, big hoops and platform shoes. This should definitely make for an interesting sight!

Vipul Shah has high hopes for the event and is even expecting that retro music may make a comeback, partly fueled by the music that Akshay and Aish will be DJ-ing. He too, like the rest of us, is eagerly awaiting the night to hear the song selections made by our newest DJs, since they are the only ones who know the tracklist!

John: Jhootha? Sahi!

All puns aside, a promotional activity for Abbas Tyrewala's Jhootha Hi Sahi starring John Abraham has declared the actor a liar!

After the interesting billboards that declared John a 'liar', the marketing team came up with the idea of using a lie detector attached to standees in cinema halls, where a person puts his or her finger on the lie detector and answers questions. Unfortunately for John, who was selected as the first one to demonstrate how to use the machine, he was branded a liar over and over again! Thinking the machine wasn't functioning properly, he tried another one, but with the same results! Obviously, John was rather annoyed by the machines, regardless of what his own recent movie states.

Surprisingly, others who tried the lie detectors got the opposite results, with the machines saying that they were telling the truth! So it's got all of us wondering; was it a fun conspiracy against John or is he actually a 'jhoota'?

To find out, you may need to watch the movie!!

Biopic on Macho Khan?!

If anyone ever believed there was one lifetime to do it all, we're certain Salman Khan does! For hasn't his life been one heck of a roller coaster ride, in every aspect be it personal or professional?!

B.K.Krishnan, the south Indian producer of BRK Films sure seems to agree. Approached to produce a script - which is, if not entirely about the macho actor's life, than at least significantly inspired by it - Krishnan has given his nod to the project currently titled Anna Salman (Salman bhai).

The cast for the movie is yet to be settled. Meanwhile, the producer shares that the movie shall be predominantly light-hearted, with a script that takes us through the life of an actor who comes out victorious in the end after many trying circumstances, to become a much loved celebrity.

Imran's Ad Initiatives

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Aamir Khan would surely be exceedingly flattered by the decisions that nephew Imran Khan has been making recently! Like his uncle, Imran is not only being more selective in the scripts he accepts, he is also being more proactive in the brands he endorses and their campaigns!

Imran, who is now the new face of a jeans label previously endorsed by both Shahid Kapoor and Akshay Kumar, has apparently told the branding executives to come up with something a little more pragmatic than the 'unbuttoning' campaign. The executives are now really racking their brains to come up with a campaign that will not only have everyone talking, but also make the young Khan satisfied!

Here's wishing both the ad creatives and the dashing Mr. Khan the best of luck!

Archies- Bollwood Style!

All those who were eager to see the newcomers from Dibaker Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dhoka back on the big screen can be assured that they are indeed returning very soon!

The latest news out on the Bollywood grapevine is that
Anshuman Jha
and Raj Kumar will be seen in Amit Chauhan's mai
den directorial venture Boys Toh Boys Hai.
A story mainly focused on four youngsters who face a mutual problem in their life together, that is a woman-less life and how they eventually find their true love, this movie is all set to please the Archie fans out there. It will be based along the same lines as the original Archies, but the backdrop will be New Delhi instead of Riverdale.
Raj Kumar will be essaying the role of a 'Baniya' and aspirant Anul Kumar will be playing a character named Atal Bihari Bakshi . Meanwhile Anshuman plays a Sikh man in the film. To make the role even more realistic, he has started learning Punjabi and how to tie a turban from his Punjabi friends, showing his dedication to the role.

Written by Manu Rishi of Aisha and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye fame and produced by KE Entertainment, this film's first scheduled shoot is to start from September 21st in Mumbai.

With an Archie likeness mixed in with some Bollywood masala, all of us here at BollyCurry wish the team of Boys Toh Boys Hain the very best!

Main Dancer to nahi... !!

The heart warming B-Town couple from the 70's, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, were recently seen to grace the small screen on the popular musical reality show, Chote Ustaad (Star Plus). The famous Monty aka Rishi was witnessed to have a gala time shaking a leg and lending his vocals alongside better half, Neetu.

With theme of the evening being 'blast from the past', the young participants sang songs which had been filmed only on Rishiji's family i.e. Rishiji, Neetuji, and their handsome lad, Ranbir Kapoor. Rishiji was seen enjoying every moment of it and as entertaining as the couple were, the duo no doubt left everyone enraptured for the few minutes they took center stage.

The couple were seen promoting their upcoming movie, Do Dooni Chaar by distributing music CDs to the audience present as well as the participants.

Here's a glimpse of the charisma that is called Kapoors!

Mrs.&Mr. King Khan endorsin' Furniture

When the hottest and loved TV ads are mentioned, SRK is certainly talked about.
Many have seen Shah Rukh's countless brand endorsements and TV commericals and now Gauri Khan, SRK's beloved wife will be featuring with SRK in his latest commerical for D'decor. The two love birds launched the furnishing line just recently at a press conference in Mumbai.
We are confident that the husband-wife duo magic will surely cast a spell on the SRK fans!

Saif Backs Out !

It was earlier it was reported by BollyCurry that Shahid Kapoor had opted out of Vishal Bharadwaj's next venture, owing some issues, which had led on for an excited Chotte Nawab Saif to replace him. (He does seem to have made a habit of stepping in to Shahid's shoes now, hasn't he?!)

Not for a happy ending this time, however. For Saif is now being heard quoting script issues to back out from the project himself.

Meanwhile, ace director cum scriptwriter Bhardwaj has shown no haste to find the substitutes as he is busy giving finishing touches to his upcoming Priyanka Chopra starer Saat Khoon Maaf.

Anjaana Anjaani release delayed ??

The grapevine is abuzz with speculations of a postponement in the release of the much awaited Priyanka Chopra - Ranbir Kapoor starer, Anjaana Anjaani.

Apparently, director Sajid Nadiawala has had a talk with his distributors to consider shifting the release a week ahead of its currently scheduled date of September 24th, because it is coming to clash with the judgment of Ayodhya dispute.

The final call has not been made, but the proposed delay seems likely to happen.

Salman's New Trend for Eid !

Aamir Khan is known to have chosen the holiday season of Christmas to release 3 of his mega hits - Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and 3 Idiots.
It seems that Salman Khan has taken his cue therefrom, except that he picks Eid over Christmas to release his box office hits! In 2009, Salman was lucky with his Eid time movie release Wanted and this year is the same story with Dabangg, already a hit at Box Office.
Consequently, we hear, Salman has come a to mutual consensus with his directors that there will be a new trend of him releasing his movies during the time of Eid.
In accordance with the same is buzz about Salman's My Love Story to be released on Eid in 2011. In charge of this film it seems, is Salman's own brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. Even though there haven't been any shooting plans made yet, it's been finalized that this movie will surely be released on Eid of 2011. It is to be a remake of a Malayam hit film Bodygaurd.
While that's for next year, Salman fans have no reason to miss the actor for an entire year, for he will be seen with Asin, in Bushan Kumar's Ready, in the meanwhile.
If the Eid release for 2011 does become a success like its preceding ventures, we say that's a hatrick to Salman, and his release strategy!

Hrithik's new look for Guzaarish!

Of the remaining projects due for release in the latter months of 2010 to come, the Hrithik Roshan - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starer Guzaarish is high up in the list of expectations. For good reason too, considering the success of their previous common film, Jodha Akbar, and adding the complimenting presence of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali backstage, to the lead couple's onscreen charisma.

The much awaited Guzaarish, is set for release this November. Even before the first theatrical promo of the movie has been aired, we bring you a sneak peek at Hrithik's character appearance.

Don't forget to tell us what your first reaction, to the the first look!

Sonakshi's First Fan Craze Incident !

Last Tuesday afternoon, Salman Khan, Sonu Sood and Sonakshi Sinha were mobbed by crazed fans in Hyderabad and as many as 30 of Salman's personal bouncers couldn't handle the hysteria of the situation.

Salman, consequently, is heard to have been so incensed that he stormed out of the place with all his colleagues and canceled plans for another event that was to happen in the city that same evening.

Salman had promised Sonakshi's father to take care of her but due to the incident in Hyderabad, Salman felt that he had fallen short of his word and that did not go down well with B-town's Macho Man.

The trio returned to Mumbai with bruised arms and legs and a deeply affected and quite shocked Sonakshi.

Well, well Miss Debutante! Welcome aboard to progressive stardom, and its many pretty sights (not)!

Couple Of The Week!

Hey Readers of BollyCurry, we're here with something new and hope you guys like it!

Every week, you will get treated to the history behind a celebrity couple, how they met, their journey so far and what their future may hold!
This week's couple is none other then the beautiful Kajol and Ajay Devgn.

Although Kajol and Ajay are different as chalk and cheese, the two are probably one of the most popular and loved couples in B-Town.
The two worked in a film together for the very first time in 1995. Anee's Bazmee's film Hulchul was not only another pathway for their career but it also helped the two realize that they were the ones for each other.
Kajol and Ajay got married on Febuary 24, 1999. The marriage was a simple occasion where only a close-knit bunch of friends and family were present. The couple soon after went to Europe for a long honeymoon.
Kajol and Ajay Devgn have a precious 7 year old daughter named Nysa. They recently welcomed another bundle of joy, a baby boy, into their family on September 13 this year!

Manoj, Neha - Parents to Be?!

Hot on the heels of Kajol's baby joy, it seems that B-Town may very well be gearing up to welcome another little bundle into it's midst!
This time it's Manoj Bajpai and wife Neha (briefly seen in flicks such as Fiza and Kareeb) who are apparently expecting their first baby since tying the knot in 2005.
The actors were spotted entering Lilavati hospital before reporting to the gynecologist department where Neha was advised to stock up on the healthy food and take proper rest.
Notably hush-hush about his personal life, Bajpai was reluctant to discuss the issue when prompted, stating he wished to keep the matter private.
Superstitious, are we, about the 3 month no say rule?! Certainly feels like a phase for 'new kids on the block'!

Delighted for the Bajpais, we wish them the very best!

The Milkman Aamir !

Mr. Perfectionist might have donned many avatars in his acting career, but never as a milkman! Aamir now turns into a milkman in a TV commercial for Tata Sky to fulfill his duties as a brand ambassador!

The ad film features a situation where one of the milkman's customer tries to pay only for the days he was in town. The milkman's point of view is conveyed in a humorous manner when he tells the customer that the cow was not aware of his vacation and hence gave milk every single day.

The milkman forcibly takes money from his customer even for the days he was on holiday. The depicted situation draws a parallel between other DTH companies and the milkman.

Conceptualized by advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather, the core theme of the ad revolves around a once-a-year subscription holiday service being offered by Tata Sky. With this feature, subscribers can discontinue their service while on vacation for a period of 15 days once every year and save some bucks!

Rivalry Turned Frienship!

there might be a new friendship blossoming from this rivalry. Yes, you heard it right!

When SRK's closest friend Farah Khan chose Akshay Kumar for her upcoming film Tees Mar Khan, it was reported that SRK was disappointed over the fact. But as of late, it looks like SRK has gotten over it and is trying to thaw the ice between him and Akshay.

According to the latest buzz, SRK and Akshay might produce a film together and a bigger surprise is that they're likely to share screen space in it as well!

SRK, it seems, has been working on mission friendship for quite some time now. Back when Akshay was shooting for Blue, SRK made perplexing visits to the sets to visit Akki as he was shooting close-by as well. He'd also suggested that the screening for Akki's recent movie Housefull be done at his bungalow, Mannat!

If that wasn't shocking enough, four months back when Akshay was shooting for Patiala House, SRK visited the sets once again and actually spent time with Akshay in his vanity van!

And the most surprising shock came when SRK, while visiting Akshay at his upcoming TV show Master Chef India, declared that Farah's next movie, Tees Maar Khan, was going to be extremely successful and even claimed estranged friend Farah as a fabulous director!

So all in all, it definitely looks like a strong connection in the making and maybe, even a re-connection with old friend Farah!

BC wishes Khiladi Kumar and King Khan good luck in their efforts to bridge their distances and hope that their ardent fans get to see this rocking duo on-screen soon!

Celeb In The Spotlight : Sonu Nigam

This week, BollyCurry brings to you the journey of one of India's best singers Sonu Nigam.

Celebrity: Sonu Nigam (Sonu Niigaam)

Sonu Nigam, born on 30th July 1973, was a child prodigy. His passion and love for singing started reflecting at the tender age of 3! His father, Agam Kumar, who used to sing in stage shows, gave him a chance to sing the evergreen song "Kya Hua Tera Wada" which was praised by one and all.

His proper musical journey began at the age of 19 when he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in playback singing. Initially, he faced a lot of hardships where many music directors criticized his singing and some of them even labeling him as a Mohammad Rafi clone.

When he was busy struggling to make a place for himself in the playback industry, the then noted music director Gulshan Kumar, gave him a chance to record cover versions of some famous Rafi songs. Sonu got his first break as a playback singer in the movie Janam (1990) but unfortunately the song was never released.

Sonu was completely distressed and was on the verge of packing bags and going back, but destiny had something else in mind. Gulshan Kumar, gave Sonu a chance to sing for a film Bewafa Sanam (1995). The song "Accha Sila Diya Tune Mere Pyaar Ka" became an instant hit with the audience and finally Sonu started receiving all the attention he deserved.

Soon thereafter, he got an offer from Zee TV to host their singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma. Though Sonu's well wishers and noted Bollywood celebrities Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar had asked him to stay away from television as it may affect his flourishing singing career, Sonu accepted the offer to host the show. As luck would have it, the show became extremely popular as soon as it was launched and helped propel Sonu a little higher on the success ladder.

Sonu started receiving offers to sing for films but the song which can be considered a milestone in his career was "Sandese Aate Hai" from the movie Border (1997) . The same year another song of his, "Yeh Dil Deewana" from Pardes (1997) became a raging hit, effectively shooting down all the claims from individuals that he was nothing more than a Rafi clone. Sonu made his mark in the industry with numerous hit songs like "Saathiya" (Saathiya), "Tanhayee" (Dil Chahta Hai), "Khamoshiyan Gungunane Lagi" (One 2 ka 4), "Suraj Hua Maddham" (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham), "Kal Ho Na Ho" (Kal Ho Na Ho) and the recent number "Aal Ez Well" from 3 Idiots. Sonu has also released various hit solo albums like Deewana (1999), Yaad (2001), etc.

Sonu even tried his hand at acting but failed. He starred in films like Jaani Dushman:Ek Anokhi Kahaani, Kash Aap Humare Hote and Love in Nepal but unfortunately all of them bombed at the box office.

This talented singer, who has almost 40 awards to his credit has come a long way in his career. We hope that he keeps succeeding in life.

Did You Know Sonu?

Vidya Clears Rumours!

Recent B-Town buzz has it that Vidya Balan was ousted from Ajay Devgn's next, Rascals for Kangana Ranaut and from Priyadarshan's Bullet Trains as well, and these rumours have had Vidya quite riled up.

Rumours state that Sanjay Dutt influenced Vidya's replacement in Rascals with Kangana after Vidya demanded a high fee for Indra Kumar's Double Dhamal. Vidya clarifies that it just did not work out with Indra, and as for Rascals, well, she was neither considered nor approached for the film in the first place! She also steers Dutt clear of the blame, by terming him 'too professional' to hold personal grudges.
Additionally, she did not take on Bullet Trains because the dates clashed with another film she is working on with Sujoy Ghosh. Meanwhile, she filmed for an advertisement together with director Priyan only recently, and assures that their are no mutual hard feelings between the two.
And since talk is on about Vidya's upcoming projects, we wonder what's up with speculations on an Ishqiya sequel?
Vidya states that Abhishek Chaubey has to let her reprise her role again, or, in the spirit of her character, she will threaten to shoot him!

Whoa! Now that is another facet of the docile Vidya Balan for you!

Shahid in Sajid's Next?

For the filming of his father's production, Mausam, Shahid Kapoor had taken a year off to focus solely on the film, turning down any other offers that come his way. Reports have it, though, that Shahid has made an exception.
Reportedly, the Kapur lad, agreed to star in Heer Ranjha, Sajid Nadiadwala's next film, that is set to start production in 2011. The movie will be directed by Sabir Khan (of Kambakht Ishq). Hunt for a leading female face is still on.
So why exactly did Shahid make an exception for Sajid?
The duo has never teamed up before, and with all the hits that Sajid has delivered, Shahid is rather eager to work with him. That, and nothing else.
Shahid's immense professionalism sure impresses, hopefully, so will his work in the upcoming ventures, unlike his average last couple attempts!

Aamir Khan is set to Dine with Prince

Aamir Khan and his wife, film maker Kiran Rao have apparently been invited to dine with the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles at the Marlborough house in Westminster, London.
If sources are believed, Aamir accepted the invitation and is highly honored to join the Prince for cocktails and dinner held especially for a selected few.

The actor will be in Toronto on September 9th for the Toronto Film Festival for the expected screening of Kiran's film, Dhobi Ghat. After that, he is to fly to London for the UK release of Peepli Live scheduled for September 24th.

This will not be the first time the Prince has dined with our B-town celebs. One cannot forget the sparks created when the yesteryear's heroine, Padmini Kolhapure kissed the Prince. The on-screen badman Gulshan Grover too aggrandized when he had his chance. Now it's time for Aamir to stake his time out!

Priyanka to 'Rock On

Priyanka Chopra sure has all it takes to be at the top.

Recently we heard that Abhishek Kapoor, who had directed the 2008 blockbuster 'Rock On', is impressed enough with PC's professionalism and deliverance of histrionics to welcome her aboard his next venture! It is to be noted that Kapoor is a contestant in a stunt reality show, KKK-3, which Priyanka is hosting, and perhaps that has given the director an insight into the lady's many wonders!

Therefore grapevine is abuzz, that Abhishek is strongly considering casting Priyanka for the leading role in what is expected to be a sequel to the much acclaimed Rock On! Following the trend of sequels, he has been working on the script for quite sometime now, and with the shoot of the challenging reality show coming to an end, he's going to be on a lookout for faces to be cast in this expected mega project!

Loves me, Loves me Not - Sallu&Kat

The confusion dwelling around the romantic alliance between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif seems never ending! Only recently, remarks from both had given the distinct impression of a break up - one that has been in process for so many months now that digging out the truth has begun to feel like a rather futile wild goose chase! Yet again they put us into deep indecision - media and fans alike - about their current relationship status, with Salman in his latest interviews alluding that the couple have been misunderstood and are in fact together!

Is that the final word, we'd like to ask macho Mr. Khan, but to what avail?!

Anyways, following the latest tell tale signs, we bring you the latest gossip. Which involves a precious little invite that was headed Kat's way, directed from darling beau (ex?) Sallu miyaan, for the screening of the upcoming Khan production, Dabangg.

This special screening was held in Mumbai and Katrina, who was shooting in a venue opposite the theater was cordially invited in - except, she could not go.

Salman Khan and the crew who are said to have been in high hosting spirits in fact wanted to invite the entire cast and crew of Farah Khan's 'Tees Maar Khan' (which stars Katrina Kaif among others) to watch 'Dabangg', but unfortunately, the RSVP came back in negative, since the sets of TMK did not pack up until much later that evening, sources say.

It is heard that Salman's sister Alvira personally went over to the 'Tees Maar Khan' sets and invited Farah Khan's team to join them. While Katrina and Alvira were witnessed by many to bond extremely well, the invitation had to unfortunately be turned down.

Kajol's Promise for a Friend

Everyone knows how passionately dedicated Kajol is, especially towards her selected few friends. Come what may, she'll always be there for them.
Despite being ordered by her doctor that she should rest and avoid any stressful activity, heavily pregnant Kajol decided that she'll go and watch her latest release, We Are Family at a suburban theater. All just to fulfill on a promise made to friends and fellow film comrades, Karan Johar and Siddharth.
Apparently, since the time that the doctors advised Kajol to take complete rest, husband Ajay Devgan has left no stone unturned to make sure that his wife doesn't have to move an inch around the house, let alone venture out of it! But once Kajol has made up her mind, it's next to impossible to make her do otherwise.
While Kajol may not have carried out such a move under normal circumstances, the director admits that this is what Kajol is like; always a true friend who'll do anything despite being a delicate month away from her delivery.
We all are aware that Kajol is brutally honest when it comes to voicing her opinions. Even Siddharth was nervous to know what Kajol thought about the film; but all those nerves were put at bay once she revealed that she loved it and that it came out exactly as they had wanted it to be.
With Kajol's due date a mere month away, we wish her all the best!

New Race-r?

In a shocking latest buzz, we learn that Saif Ali Khan has reportedly backed out of Ramesh Taurani's sequel to the blockbuster thriller Race. Apparently, the actor has his hands full with Vishal Bhardwaj's and Kunal Kohli's next movies, and as the movie is still in the pre-production stages, Saif thought it would be better for him to back out right away.

Obviously, that has left the director with the big question, as to who should be cast for the male protagonist in Race 2?

Grapevine is abuzz with the likelihood of Junior Bachchan, Abhishek, stepping into Saif's shoes! Details more than that are not available yet, though.

It is also to be wondered about, if, with her beau out of the film, Kareena Kapoor will opt out of Race 2 as well?

John's Women Woes!

Director Nishikant Kamat, producer Vipul Shah and actor John Abraham had quite the tiresome hunting expedition for a leading actress to be cast opposite John, for the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha.

Dearth of women to be paired up with the hunky dory Abraham?! What is the world coming to indeed!

Apparently, initially they had signed Ghajini girl Asin for the role but she opted out, choosing to gear up exclusively for the upcoming movie Ready co-starring Salman Khan, hence becoming abruptly unavailable to shoot for this one.

Next to be towed in for the project was Barbie babe Katrina Kaif, luckily available courtesy the delay of Dostana 2. However, taking up an alter offer opposite Imran Khan under the YRF banner, Kat too ditched the team.

While the leading lady dilemma was still at play on the sets, shoots had to be resumed with only a bleak hope of finding some glam face to oblige soon enough.

And finally, that has happened! It shall be Genelia D' Souza to fit the cinderella shoe as John's lady love in the movie!

Given the fact that John and Genelia have worked together in the past for a cellphone commercial, there is anticipation to watch their chemistry on big screen now.

BC wishes good luck to John and Genelia for this Tamil film remake!

Priyanka and Katrina together?

Rivalries among glam dolls at the peak is not a rarity in Tinsel town. Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra and the Barbie Doll Katrina Kaif fall in this very league. Rumours of a cold war between the duo were confirmed recently when Kats backed out of a film because Piggy Chops had a more substantial role as compared to her! But when it came to paying homage to the King of Pop, both Kats and PC are ready to keep aside their personal rivalries and are even looking forward to doing an album together for Ganesh Hegde.

Interestingly, choreographer Ganesh Hegde was part of the opening act of the legendary Michael Jackson's 1996 History tour in Mumbai. And now, in honor of Jackson, Hegde is dedicating his next album to the Kinng of Pop in celebration of his 52nd birth anniversary. The album will feature these two tinsel town divas and B-town's dude, Hrithik Roshan.

According to Hegde, this music video is his tribute to Michael Jackson, his idol since childhood. He admits that every song of his has been inspired by Jackson, either in the mannerisms or in the footwork. His death has left Hegde devastated and he is still coping.

We, at BollyCurry, wish him the best of luck for the album!

Ram Kapoor to play a business man in Luv U... Mr. Kalakaar

Ram Kapoor, one of the most successful television actors has been seen in films since some time now. Unlike the other TV actors, who have had a hard time making it big in Bollywood, Ram Kapoor's talent as an actor got noticed and very well appreciated. He has been serious, funny, sweet, caring, egoistic as well as irritating on screen while playing the characters.

Whatever he does, whether tele-serials or movies, he does it with own style and charisma. Ram Kapoor still lives in the hearts of his fans as Jay Walia from Kasam Se.

Here's a pleasant interview of Ram Kapoor, about his upcoming movie, Luv U Mr. Kalakaar, his wife's take on his acting, and his future projects…

Tell us something about the movie Love U Mr. Kalakaar and your character in it?
It is typical Rajshri productions' film with a lot family drama and emotions. It's about a kalakar, an artiste. I play a character of a business man a father who hates artistes, so in this movie Tushaar Kapoor who plays the role of an artiste takes inspiration from everything around him, and I look down upon him and put him down all the time.

Like the character of Kamath Sir in KCK, does this character too have a grey shade?
No, none of the Rajshri movies have a character having a grey shade; all I would say is that I am difficult in the movie.

What made you choose this film? What appealed to you in this movie?
There are two reasons why I chose to do this film, firstly my role in it is fantastic, like in film standards it is the biggest role that I have played up till now in comparison to my roles in Udaan or Karthik calling Karthik (KCK). And another reason to choose this film is Rajshri Productions itself. The Barjatiya's are the most respected and veteran in the Bollywood industry. So I feel lucky to be working with them.

How did it feel like being a father to Amrita Rao?
It was same as any other role that I play. I have to get into the character like I would have if it were any other character; I have already been a father on screen for four years to different people, as Jay Walia in Kasam se.

How was your experience working with Prem Chopra? infact the experience with the entire star cast of Luv U Mr. Klakaar, since all of them are so experienced and amazing?
I feel very lucky, I had actually hoped for this. Initially my goal was to be choosy in films, I had decided that I would work with only those people I want to work with. And I have been lucky enough to be offered the kind of roles I want to play, and the kind of films I want to do with the right kind of people. However, I have a long way to go.

Are you a director's actor or you believe in improvisation?
I am a bit of both actually. I think one has to be a director's actor; in fact some directors do want you to improvise. I believe that a film involves teamwork, sharing of ideas, and that's when good work can happen.

How comfortable were you with your director?
I was very comfortable with my director, since we share a fantastic relation.

So will we see you only in films now, or you will do TV?
For time being I am concentrating on what I have at hand. I don't have any long term plans or goals that I will be doing only films or only TV. As of now my dates are gone for another six months and after that I don't have any plans as such. I am open to best offers. If I were offered a film and also something on TV, and if the offer on TV seems better than I'd gladly do it.

What's your ideal role, something that you wish to play once in your life?
My ideal role would be probably something like Godfather or something about underworld don. I would love to do a role like that if it comes my way.

What kind of role do you think you can play perfectly or you are good at?
I don't really know that, it is difficult for an actor to know what kind of role he is good at. It is for the audience to decide if the actor is good at certain role. I usually have same approach to every character or role that I have to play.

How does your wife react to the roles that you play?
Gautami, likes the way I act. In fact she is my biggest fan. But yes, there are times when she will tell me about certain role, that I could do better. We have detailed discussion on both the good and the bad part about my acting.

On the scale of 1-10 how much would you rate your wife in acting, since she has done both TV and bollywood?
I will give her an 8 on her acting skills.

Very few television actors have been able to make a mark in Bollywood, what's your take on this?
Yes, that is true, that there are very few TV actors who have been successful in Bollywood. However, I think that if you are good at your job, then you will eventually get recognition and will be able to make a mark. Not many successful TV actors can afford to or even can manage taking a risk to start their career in Bollywood, especially when you are well established in the Television industry.

Will you be hosting Swayamvar show this time?
I am open to Swayamvar, just that my dates shouldn't be clashing.

What are your future projects?
I have 2-3 projects lined up. One of them is Agent Vinod, wherein, I have an interesting role, it is dramatic, and something that people have never seen me doing before. I am really excited about this role. It is too early to disclose about the other two projects, that I am doing.

Salman's Awkward Situation

When necessary, Salman knows how to keep his cool and that was proved when he attended channel Zee's talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar to promote his upcoming movie Dabaang. Being a Salman Khan special episode, old memories, bitter and sweet, were brought forth once again.
Shreyasi, a hardcore fan and a participant of the talent show, admitted that she felt bad for him when Aishwarya left him. Salman diligently kept his cool as he acknowledged the fact that he was attending the event for his movie's promotion alone and no other business other than to have fun.
This came as rather a surprise as it's been revealed that recently, when some reporters asked Salman about his split with Katrina Kaif, he got really annoyed. Salman, thankfully, showed none of that irritation at the talent show .
If you are wondering as to why such a comment was made to Salman when it is common knowledge that the subject is a touchy issue with him, it is said that the talent show used this as a method to deliver a sensational "promotional line". This little bit of controversy is expected to cause a noticeable rise in TRPs.

We, at BollyCurry, are surely excited to see the episode even after the pointless ploys of the PR people!

Of the fans, By the fans, For the fans!

If you're SRK, you sure know how to win hearts!

In the latest from him, Shah Rukh seeks suggestions from his 6 lac twitter followers for fresh story line ideas. He tweets,

" thanx for half a dozen lakh followers. now that we have known each other for 6 months too, lets exchange a few ideas for better films."

Not unexpectedly, the opportunity for such open discussion brought on an overwhelming response within minutes. Not only was King Khan mighty pleased, but also equally prompt in replying,

"seems songs & dances to lessen or become more realistic. thrillers seem an idea...stories more involved with reality. good ideas great going"

As the discussion progressively gained ground and exponentially gained participation, SRK got actively involved in expressing his own opinions on the subject, admitting that it was not the predictable plots, but the hackneyed screenplays which gave a stale feel to movies. Additionally, the actor mentioned his dissatisfaction with clarity and distinction of subtitles.

When few many suggestions for the making of more biopics were encountered in the fans' response, SRK shared,

"i am also one for biopics...not only of very famous ppl...but of lesser known ppl who have interesting stories to share."

Overall, the interaction sure opened a coveted vista for thousands of fans online to chip in their two cents on the King's asking itself, while giving SRK much food for thought to ponder over for newer projects to come.

Conclusively, for the humble man he is, Shah Rukh did not forget to acknowledge the eager input from his fans.

"also thanks all for ur feedback on films & wot (what) they should be like. very educative...read all the tweets & will keep the points in mind."

We say dear Mr. Khan has his ways to meet his loyal fans half way... and if you have a dream role carved out in your mind just for him, shoot him a tweet right away

Lalit Pandits, Munni Badnaam Hui., a big hit!

Lalit Pandit, the melody maker of all time famous songs like "tujhe dekha toh yeh..." from DDLJ, "pehla nasha.." from Joh Jeeta Woh Sikander, "chaand sifarish.." from Fanaa, has given a rather shock to the public with his naughty lyrics in the Malaika Arora Khan-Salman starer, chart topping item number, "munni badnaam hui..." from one of the most awaited movie of the year 'Dabang'. Lalit Pandit is well known for his soft and lovely romantic numbers and many of them have went on to become evergreen love anthems. However, who knew that he would come up with something that would become rage among dance lovers and most talked about song in a short time of its release. Yes, his next song falls in category of tikha songs such as "bidi jalai ley..." or "hoth rasiley...!" "Munni badnaam hui.." is playing everywhere and on all the music systems around.

How has your musical journey been so far?

So far my musical journey has been absolutely a dream journey. A lot of hard work went into doing and reaching where I currently am. The talent has just grown and matured over the years. So my journey in short has been record-breaking.

Your composition - 'Munni Badnam hui..' is getting more and more popular each day, did you expect this kind of response?

I did expect it to be a big hit. Luckily I had the right kind of song to my side at the right time. The kind of response I have got from the listeners as well as from people within the industry is absolutely overwhelming, and I am sincerely thankful to Arabaaz Khan, Salman and Sohail Khan.

With the kind of lyrics that this song has, how was your experience composing it?

I have done songs like "Bole chudiyan..." earlier, but this one is very different. I had to mold myself and my music style according to the current music trend, from melodious to what the current music trend is, for "Munni Badnaam Hui..."

This isn't the usual Lalit style so should we expect some more songs on this line?

Yes, absolutely, I am already meeting Sanjay Dutt as he too wants me to do a similar kind of song. I am a composer and creator, you have to tell me what you want and I can try to attempt it in the best possible way. However, I will keep giving soft and melodious songs, something that you will always get from me. I am going to add "Munni Badnaam Hui.." genre to my armor. But yes I love the melodious songs that we have made earlier, since they are cult songs, which will remain there forever.

What do you have to say about the change in musical trend these days?

I like the current change in musical trend. I am a very appreciative kind of a person, so I appreciate the kind of music that is being played these days. I like Pritams "pee loon..", I also like Shekhar's music as well as Vishal and Shekhar's music. However, I believe that the strength of a composer can be judged if is able to survive in the long innings. I have tried to mold my style of music each time, in every generation, according to their trends.

Who are your current favorite music composers?

I do not have a consistent favorite composer; it is different at different times, for different songs.

Do you think that the old melodies will be back in trend ever?

I think melody is always going to be around may be in newer forms but it will always be there.

Which one current musical trend you will never want to follow?

I hate rap music, and I have never been able to understand the usage of rap music in between a nice Hindi song, I will never want to do a song that involves rap.

Do u think flood of new singers may only increase the competition and eventually make many get lost in crowd, as not every one is busy recording all year like it use to be earlier, incase of Rafisaab, Asha Bhosle or Kumar Sanu, Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, or recently Shreya Goshal and Sunidhi Chauhan and Mohit Chauhan... today each singers get few songs in various film..
I totally agree with this that the new singers have increased which has also increased the amount of competition today and this has made the job of the singers very tough, as it is difficult to get recognition for new singers these days.

Also what do you have to say about song albums that have become very similar and monotonous with every movie having an item song, love song, sad song and Sufi song?

I think it is the director's criteria to come with music that the film requires. It shouldn't be like following a particular formula, because then it does become monotonous and if this happens all the time, then I believe that it is the director's fault.

What are your future projects, and what kind of music style can we expect?

My future projects will involve melodious music; from now on it will be more youthful and modern music. Although, "Munni Badnaam Hui.." has kicked off my new innings in the current scenario.

Kahaan Curves, Aur Kahaan Minus!

BollyCurry has time and time again mentioned how actors undergo look changes to ensure their characters look the part. Some easily achieved, some painstakingly achieved and some so extreme that it hurts just to read about it. We bring you such a tale.

The beautiful Kareena Kapoor is now most famously known for her size zero figure. Something, for which, she has passed through ample scrutiny by the press and public alike. After undergoing an inhumanly cruel diet routine, sacrificing her heirloom desi curves and many other hardships to obtain her perfect size zero, Kareena is now able to flaunt her figure with pride. Even if she had to receive a little flak!

But news has it that Karan Johar now wants Bebo to further kick it down a notch and fit into a size minus frame!

The peppy director claims that it would be apt for Kareena to further tone her body so that she would suit the look opposite Imran Khan in their next flick together titled, Short Term Shaadi. But not only will she be flaunting off a thinner frame, Kareena will also be shown sporting a shorter hairstyle.

The term itself, 'size minus', is pretty scary. We wonder what else Kareena will have to endure in the name of character authenticity!
