Abhishek Bachchan to die in Delhi-6 ?

For the National Awards, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra submitted his film, Delhi 6 to the jury with an alternative ending to what the audience saw in the cinemas. It was this unseen version that recieved two National Awards.
When the film released in 2009, the originial ending of Delhi 6 saw Abhishek Bachchan's character surviving his inflicted wounds. The ending that was sent to the National Awards however saw the opposite with Abhishek's character dying at the end.
Many might wonder how a film with an alternative ending came to be eligible for the National Awards. In fact, Rakeysh Mehra wanted Abhishek's character to die all along. Despite the death scene being shot, they were always pressured to change the ending which then resulted in the ending that was shown to the audience. The ending was originally only shown at the Venice Film Festival, but to make it eligible and appropriate for the committee, there was a week long release of the film where the alternative ending was shown to audiences.
With the alternative release receiving a great response, Mehra decided to release Delhi 6 with the alternative ending worldwide. While the original ending was put on hold for a year, Mehra was pretty upset with the comments Delhi 6 recieved when there were talks about the film's failure. As a result, Mehra's confidence was put down. But faith was found in Oliver Stone who finally convinced Mehra to go ahead and release the film with the original ending.
Dates marking the release of the original ending are yet to be worked out.
