Emotional Atyachar Indeed!

Since the movie Dev.D was released, the term 'emotional atyachar' has more or less entered our social lingo. The phrase has been used as the title of a TV show and now we can see it as a title for a soon to be releasing film as well! The upcoming flick starring Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak, however, is now facing some 'emotional atyachar' of its own.

Apparently Producer Vijay Gutte is being taken to court by the channel on which the TV show Emotional Atyachar is being aired. A representative from the channel says that the film's title is tremendously similar to the TV show's title, although Vijay clarifies that his film is in fact titled The Film Emotional Atyachar. Consequently this is the title which has been registered with the Indian Motion Pictures' Producers Association (IMPAA).
Vijay feels that the channel should have approached him personally if they took offense with the title of his film. He says that the IMPAA would not have granted him permission to use that title without first checking with the channel, and it does not make sense for the channel to ask for compensation of Rs. 50 lakh. He cannot change the title now as too much has been invested into the movie and the rights have already been sold to Roopvati Pictures. So, all he can do is refer the complaints to the picture house!
Emotional Atyachar for (The Film) Emotional Atyachar indeed!

Solemn Sonakshi!

from humble rural background and plays the good ol' unassuming wife to corrupt officer (Salman). And although trailers of this debut venture is all the audience have seen of her just yet, the girl sure makes a point with her priorities.

While showbiz inevitably involves all the feminine sensuality and baring for display in many-a-blockbuster hits, Sonakshi is yet another new comer promising to make the exception: Explicitly, she says that she will not dedicate her skills to blatant skin show acts. This condition was set down by her parents and she is more than happy to abide by it.

Meanwhile, with Dabangg promos looking all gung-ho, we look forward to the launch of another starlet!

Monsoon Blues for Deepika

Apart from the massive downpour of heavy rains, the monsoon season also sadly means that some of us will inevitably fall ill. This time, our beloved B-Town babe, Deepika Padukone has fallen prey to the season.
Buzz on the grapevine is that Deeps has come down with a horrid fever and has strictly been advised to rest until further notice. The actress has thankfully enacted on this instruction positively, canceling all shoots and other professional activities for the meanwhile. Deepika's sole mission as of now stands only in recovering her frail health.
Rumour also has it that Siddharth Mallya, son of business tycoon Vijay Mallya who we recently reported has been an influence in getting Deeps to erase her famous 'RK' tattoo, has been extremely concerned about her health. The London educated man is subsequently her emotional support during this tumultuous period.
Wishing Deepika a speedy recovery!

Ash's Stiller moment

She squashed the Bond girl rumours and disappointed Will Smith when she wasn't able to commit to his romantic comedy Hitch. However, it seems that Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan will finally be making her return back to Hollywood!
Following news of the actress shooting an ad with Titanic star Kate Winslet, the buzz is that Ben Stiller is currently busy with a script with Ash in the lead. Whilst so far nothing of the plot has been confirmed, it seems that the offer came about when deals with Michael Kirk Douglas fell through.
The actor had originally been keen to do an International Project and had finally zeroed in on Aishwarya as his lead. However, a recent diagnosis of throat cancer has left the future of Douglas's acting career in doubt and thus shelved the project, leaving the way successfully open for Stiller instead.
Whilst the former beauty queen has yet to confirm the news, a Hollywood project may be just the thing she needs after her previous disappointing venture, Raavan.

Lara to Cheer Mahesh

The gorgeous Lara Dutta is all set to cheer boyfriend-cum-tennis champion, Mahesh Bhupati when he plays at the US Open from 30th August to 12th September in Flushing Meadows, NY.
The audacious beauty will be in the States shooting for a popular Magazine while the tennis star at the same time battles it out at the courts. With both being in the vicinity, it is slightly more than a little obvious that Mahesh, who recently separated from ex-wife Shvetha Jaishankar after seven years of marriage, will be looking to spend some quality time with the former beauty queen. Also, when able to do so, Lara, 32, is expected to support Mahesh, 36, from the box especially designed for close ones to players such as coaches, trainers and family.
The couple have cautiously let loose a few signs of their alleged closeness including some hand-in-hand appearances at regular events. Even though the pressing industry has been gorging for some confirmation on the status of their romantic relationship, both have securely remained tight-lipped. However, rumors of them actually living together have been flown out the window.
It is obviously a coincidence that Lara happens to be close-by for a magazine endorsement while Mahesh shows off his talent at US open. Or is it?

Vidya to do a cameo!

With the shooting of her upcoming flick No One Killed Jessica successfully wrapped up, Vidya Balan is now able to rest and recover her injured shoulder. However, the buzz is that the actress refuses to sit still for long as she gears up for her next project, even if the role is a short cameo.
Two films old director, Rohan Sippy (Kuch Naa Kaho and Bluffmaster) is eager to cast Vidya in his next film, Dum Maaro Dum, whilst inevitably best friend Abhishek Bachchan stars in the leading role.

Sippy was apparently on the lookout for an actress who can play the role of a traditional Indian beauty and who better than Vidya as the perfect choice?
Vidya, whose great on-screen chemistry with Abhishek was visible to us in Paa, was very excited with her character narration and is ecstatic about stepping in for a cameo opposite Junior Bachchan.
The two stars were also previously seen together in Mani Ratnam's Guru, although Vidya portrayed the role of Abhi's sister in the movie.
This film has surely garnered a lot of curiosity amongst our Bollywood-crazed junta even before its making; firstly, because of its peppy title and secondly, because of the Abhi-Vidya jodi.
Here's hoping that this outing will be just as successful for the duo!

Hera Pheri for the Cast

If one mentions Hera Pheri then one automatically thinks of the hilarious antics of Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. However, ardent fans may be disappointed to hear that all that is about to change!

Feroz Nadiawala, producer of hits such as Fool N Final and Welcome, discussed the third installment of Hera Pheri with Akshay way back in 2006. But due to the hefty price Akshay was demanding, Feroz was left with no other choice but to sadly change the whole cast of the comedy.
Nadiawala just wasn't able to afford Akshay this time around and so after some quick thinking and reshuffling, the cast re-assignment stands at: Abhishek Bachchan in Akshay's role, Nana Patekar will be taking over for Paresh Rawal, whilst Sanjay Dutt will be stepping into the shoes of Suniel Shetty.
According to Nadiawala, the script that Anees Bazmee (No Entry, Singh Is Kinng) has written for Hera Pheri 3 is very promising and without a doubt should definitely be a winner at the box office.
Now fine actors they may be, but we wonder if the new cast can do justice to the much loved old characters?

Arjun Rampal Misses Being A Part Of Don

There aren't many amongst us who are oblivious of Farhan Akhtar and his shooting of the much awaited sequel of Don titled, as of now, Don 2. And there aren't many of us who are oblivious to the fact that, as it is with sequels, new faces come in leading to old characters getting axed. The same situation is true for our National Award winner, Arjun Rampal.
Arjun, who portrayed a small but crucial part in Don as the character Jasjit, is happy that a sequel is taking place but has admitted that he will miss being a part of the cast and crew as his character is sadly no longer in the story. Arjun holds no grudges against buddy and former co-star of Rock On, Farhan as he understands that new characters will take the film forward and to greater heights.
However, all is not lost for Arjun. The talented actor has taken some time out and decided to fly to Germany to visit the sets as a good friend.
'Tis the mechanical way of sequels but Arjun will surely be missed.

Anjaana Anjaani gets a 'new' look !

After reports of plagiarism in concern with the first look of upcoming PC-Ranbir starrer, Anjaana Anjaani, wherein the poster released was found to be an exact copy of the British movie An Education's theatrical poster, the producer and creative team have gone about with the task of fixing the error.

Last week BollyCurry, among others, reported about the lifted poster shot while providing the evidential image of the original British film. Director Siddharth Anand, who was aghast by the news of plagiarism and the negative publicity the film was receiving, has promptly brought about the required change, for good measure too, so that the film's promotion and publicity are not further ill affected.

A fresh photo shoot was done with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra for the new look of the poster. A comparison of the two can be drawn from the poster images above.

Chuck plagiarism, on general parameters too we at Bolly Curry vote in favor of the second poster - greater intimacy, greater promise!

I am single, says Katrina Kaif

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who had always refrained from speaking about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, has finally confirmed that she was single.

'I am single. But beyond that I don't think I need to give too much of details,' Katrina told reporters Tuesday at the Trident hotel, where she was named as the international brand ambassador of Etihad Airways.

Etihad Airways is the national airlines of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The actress who garnered rave reviews for her role in director Prakash Jha's political drama 'Raajneeti' said that sometime it becomes very difficult to take a personal decision and more so if it has to be taken publicly.

'Sometimes it's hard enough to take decisions, professional sometimes but mostly personal and wherever the decision that you have to take, it's very difficult to take them and if you have to make them in front of everybody, whether it's media, or the public or the world, I think that's a little bit more than what I can handle. That's why for six years, I have never commented who I am with, if I had a break up, if there is an argument,' Katrina said.

The actress said she thinks commitment changes with situation.

'If you commit to something, you must stand by. But if you commit to something and the situation changes, then perhaps the commitment also changes,' she said.

Fashion Faceoff: Sushmita Sen vs. Jacqueline Fernandez

Ameesha and Maanyata: BFFs?

With all the news recently about celebrity friendships falling apart, we are pleased to present you with a refreshing article about the newfound friendship between starlet Ameesha Patel and Sanjay Dutt's pregnant wife, Maanyata!

The friendship reportedly began when Ameesha starred in a movie with Sanjay, and has grown to such proportions that Maana was one of the few people that Ameesha called after her grandmother's demise last week.

So just how close are the two?

Close enough that Ameesha has taken on the elaborate task of planning Maana's seven-month baby shower, and has been dutifully taking care of her pregnant friend, whose hubby is not in town to attend to her delicate needs. One such need is of course food! Since Maana can't travel much due to her swollen feet, Ameesha has reportedly been getting Maana's dinner from her favourite restaurants. Maana was also lucky enough to be gifted an iPad by Ameesha, so that she can simply laze in bed without getting bored!

One sure would like a buddy like Ameesha! Here's wishing the two cherished friends many happier times ahead.

A Comedy To Hit The Box Office

Anees Bazmee, well known writer/director famous for his many successful comedies like No Entry, Welcome and Singh is Kinng is back doing what he does best - tickling your funny bone. His latest comedic offering comes in the name of No Problem and if his past record is anything to count on, this without a doubt will be declared a winner at the box office.

After Anees's super hit success with Singh is Kinng, he had been delinquently approached by the Sikh community for a sequel to the much entertaining movie. Due to Anee's busy schedule and Vipul Shah's lack of response, Anees was uncertain about the prospect which is the very reason why he has added sardars in his upcoming movie.

If Anees' talent is nothing to go by, then the film's impressive cast ensemble is sure to seal the deal. With 17 actors and a whooping 150 junior artists working on the project, how could we not expect the flick to do well? Some biggies boasted in this movie are Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and various others filling the roles of sardarjis.

From the promos released so far, one can already tell that the film is all set to be one of the most promising comedies to hit our screens this year.

BollyCurry wishes Anees and his movie all best!

Ranbir & Shahid set to rock the stage together!

It is fairly common knowledge that the Morani brothers have roped in Ranbir Kapoor for his first ever world tour next summer. Now if rumors are to be believed, the brothers may have extended the request to the other Kapoor lad residing in millions of hearts. Yes, we're talking about none other than the dancing phenomenon, Shahid Kapoor.
Apparently, the business brothers are extremely keen to get Shahid on board due to his natural talent for dancing, even more so than Ranbir!
Be better at dancing or not, both hunks have their fair share of loyal fans with most screaming for both. Hence, we can say with great confidence that both Kapoors strutting their stuff together will surely set the stage on fire!
Shahid has yet to make a firm decision about the show because he wants to wrap up all shooting and promotions for his upcoming movie Mausam first. However, the Morani brothers (and all his fans) remain hopeful!
Other Bollywood biggies already part of this ensemble include Fashion Diva Priyanka Chopra and the Barbie Doll, Katrina Kaif.
Hoping things work out for Shahid and we all get to see him doing what he does best!

* SRK's wax statue unveiled in New York !

Just when we thought the most latest news on wax statues and Bollywood stars was Hrithik Roshan's wax statue coming aboard on the Bollywood list of Madame Tussauds, London; we were yet again surprised (not much) by the unveiling of Shahrukh Khan's wax statue at Times Square, New York. Well, the Baadshah Khan never let's anyone take away the lead, does he?

The statue is Khan's third to be placed in Madame Tussauds, the previous two adding glory to the wax museums in London and Los Angeles. His most latest model will be placed on the 9th floor of the museum, giving company to Amitabh Bachchan's model which was placed in the Bollywood Zone last year.

King Khan has undoubtedly reached a milestone by having his wax statue placed in 3 of the museum's 10 branches spread all over the world. The unveiling of his statue was accompanied by the DVD release of SRK's latest hit film, My Name is Khan, which came out earlier this year. The Bollywood Axion Dance Troupe also gave a brilliant dance performance to mark this event by performing on songs from My Name is Khan and Khan's other films; including Om Shanti Om.

Shahrukh's latest statue is dressed in a classy black suite, standing astride in a relaxed posture, and carries the trademark dimpled smile, which has swooned millions of girls around the globe. What is more interesting is the simple (NOT) cost of making the statue, which amounted up to approximately $ 1,25,000 (Rs. 62,50,000).

What with SRK's great brand power in New York and a huge fan following, Madame Tussauds will surely soon be flooded with people wanting to pose with the new statue. Good luck, new addition to the wax museum in New York; and cheers to all his fans out there!

* Anjaana Anjaani first look copied !

So just when we thought this year we would be spared of watching Bollywood remakes that are said to be 'inspired' by its western counterpart, we come to know that the much awaited Ranbir-Priyanka starrer Anjaana Anjaani is yet another remake of the 2009 British release An Education. How do we know that? Take a look at the 'first theatrical poster' of the soon to be released Bollywood film. The Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor starrer has the duo striking a similar pose to Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard in An Education's theatrical release poster.

Even if the posters do look similar, we are however, made aware of the fact that the stories differ in totality, with An Education, directed by Lone Scherfig, being the story of an intelligent high school girl,Jenny Millar (Carey Mulligan), who is about to start university for higher studies when she meets a charming, older man David Goldman (Peter Sarsgaard), who romantically sways her off her feet. Smitten with love, Jenny leaves her ambitions behind, just to be him, only to realize later that the man of her dreams had been conned and had left her for good.

Anjaana Anjaani weaves a different tale of two youths who have faced severe disappointments in the face of love and their unsuccessful careers. Fed up with the way things have turned out, they both individually decide to put their miseries to an end for good by jumping off a bridge. However, destiny has other plans for them, and thus, when they both co-incidentally end up on the same bridge at the same time, starts off yet another love story.

Another inspiration for Anjaana Anjaani, directed by Siddarth Anand, are the Hollywood box-office hits;The Girl on the Bridge (1999)and Before Sunrise (1995).

Amitabh to step into Marathi Films?

Astounding actor Big B is all set to take his acting to the next level and venture into the Marathi film industry.

As per the sources, the Shahenshah might make his debut in Vinay Apte's directorial project based on the life of thelegendary King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As a matter of fact, this movie is countenanced by Shivaji Maharaj's descendant Malojiraje.

If the grapevine is tobelieved, Big B will feature as Shivaji Maharaj's father -Shahaji Bhonsle. The character Adil Shah is to be played by none other than the"on-screen baddie", Gulshan Grover.

However, nothing is finalized asthe production houseis still searching for a fresh face to play the lead role. If all goes well, the movie is expected to be completed this October, the very month Big B celebrates his birthday! Let's wait and watch if he presents his fans with this surprise present!

That's the spirit Vidya !

The gorgeous B-Town actress Vidya Balan is well-known for her professionalism, and has once again proven that she will go to any heights to fulfill her commitments!

Apparently she is having severe pain in her shoulder due to a muscle injury and has been advised to go easy with her projects and instead take complete rest. But the lovely lass recently put her foot down, as she had already committed to attend the South Filmfare Awards held on August 7. Vidya took a flight to Chennai all the way to attend the Awards night!

It seems that
Vidya has been suffering from this shoulder injury for quite some time now. Even while she was shooting for Rajkumar Gupta's No One Killed Jessica, she was in extreme pain, but she simply ignored it in favour of her shoots.

Vidya is currently undergoing physiotherapy and has been asked to keep away from doing any physical work which may stress her shoulder.

Karan, Co-Director...?

If you're even remotely a Bolly-goer, you understand why the names Khan and Johar are spoken together - at all times! Tinsel town's Baadshah Khan Shahrukh and his dostana tales with Karan are an occasion to make headlines for all odd reasons imaginable! The bonding is unbreakable.

And while we all know about KJo's belief in SRK's lucky charm for his major ventures, it seems Shahrukh reciprocates the faith entirely!

For the latest scoop of gossip that we bring you is about Karan's role in co-directing SRK's home In fact there is more to the buzz, according to which there shall be a first in terms of Karan directing some song sequences, in addition to other segments of the movie.

Except, there happens to be the other side to the story - the denying side!

Recently SRK tweets about Karan's visit to the sets of the movie in UK. While the tweet had indicated harmless moral support from one friend to another, there are many who seem to see extra meaning to Karan's visit. Including the amount of his time spent with SRK during work schedules. One can't help but wonder about Karan's inclination to now turn circumstancial choreographer to help his dear friend!

SRK and Sinha maintain that Ra.1 is a KJo free domain! The work for this Khan production is to be attributed to those two alone, and no body else. What SRK absolutely can't and shouldn't deny is the fact that Karan and him can't stand staying apart to long - work or otherwise!

From us, its just good luck to you Mr. Khan, for Ra.1

Dost Dost Na Raha

Dost Dost Na Raha
Hey there readers!

There's been enough talk of 'good' friends this August already. We suppose, its just as well to go and revisit the 'estranged' friends and lovers of tinsel town while the bonding month of August lasts us.

There are all those cases of once upon a time thick friends, who of recent times have turned into mutually launched cold war foes! ... Occasionally, the war has not been harmlessly cold ...

Professional rivalries, personal hiccups, all love lost, et al ... here's how unbecoming matters have turned old friendships from sweet to sour!

On July 16th, Katrina Kaif's birthday party got more interesting than it would have been when an argument was triggered between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. It is said that Salman was constantly reminding Shah Rukh about how his show Dus Ka Dum was successful while Shah Rukh's Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hai flopped. If rumours are true, Salman was quite angry about the fact that Shah Rukh had turned down his offer for a cameo appearance in his brother Sohail Khan's home production Main Aur Mrs. Khanna.
Reports say that the argument slowly shaped into a verbal fight as the party proceeded. When it looked as if the verbal fight would become a physical one, Aamir Khan, Katrina and Shah Rukh's wife Gauri intervened to calm things down between the stars.
Shah Rukh Khan eventually left the party in a huff with his wife.
Will these two ever become friends again?

~~~X~~~
This one is of two best friends who turned lovers, and have now allegedly parted ways, not on pleasant terms.
Rumours had it that Salman had supposedly thrown all of Katrina's stuff out of his Galaxy apartment when he found out that she was in touch with John Abraham, another of his tinsel town foes,via SMS(s). Salman, it was heard, got greatly infuriated and decided he no longer wanted Katrina in his life. But all that buzz was squashed when assured their fans through a public assurance that belied any such happening. Katrina admits that she had been SMSing John, but it was all work-related in regards with the shooting and release of their common movie New York, but also maintains that she was no longer in touch with John beyond professional concerns.
Things however have looked ever so dicey between Sallu and Kat, what with one instance or another making headlines ever so frequently.
One wonders then, if things will return to the good old days for the couple again?
~~~X~~~

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were once the hottest couple in Bollywood.
While sources claim that Kareena's dumping of Shahid had much to do with their string of onscreen flops together, a part of it was triggered purely by Shahid's BO hit Vivah, opposite Amrita.
Kareena put herself into hunting an alter lucky mascot who could launch her on a better pedestal in Hindi cinema, and that was when Saif happened. Eventually the two confessed being an item on national television, after many public denials previously. The duo is said to be formally engaged and have been going steady for a while.
Of course there was ex boyfriend Shahid, very upset about his break-up with Kareena who for herself had done much better in getting over the heartbreak.
Shahid and Kareena had come face to face once again when they had to shoot the remaining portions of Jab We Met. While shooting, they showed no signs of cold vibes or any distaste but after the shoot wrapped up, they refused to speak to each other.
And as far as their mutual harmony goes during the post production work of their latest release Milenge Milenge, one has little hope of a mature patch up between the two, even as cordial colleagues.
~~~X~~~
Kareena and Priyanka Chopra were believed to be friends at one time but it seems now to be the case of two arch rivals unlikely to be friends.
Their friendship soured when controversies concerning Bebo and Shahid were created, allegedly, just to gain popularity for the movie, Kaminey.
At Priyanka's official website's launch for her movie Pyaar Impossible, she was asked about the accusations made by Kareena against Priyanka and Shahid. In her defense Priyanka reminded them of how futile it was to even imagine that the team of Kaminey would resort to any such antics when the movie had great cast, great banners, and the renowned producer Vishal Bhardwaj to boast of. Eventually, Kaminey and Kambakkht Ishq hit the halls together, and rivalry saw no end.
~~~X~~~
Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi had their first spat over their common love interest in the now Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. Things have yet to cool down and resolve between the actors, from then to now.
Back when Vivek was a newbie in the industry, he had made a big mistake in becoming foes with Salman. It is known that Vivek called a press conference and told them that Salman had hounded him with 41 drunks calls that were very unpleasant. And never again have they spoken to each other.
Sources also reveal that Vivek, in later cognizance of his blunder, had even tried to apologize to Salman at the Rajiv Ghandi Awards Function but Salman refused to acknowledge him. He even refused to know someone by the name of Vivek Oberoi.

~~~X~~~
Together for three years at one time, Vivek and Aishwarya had ultimately succumbed to a nasty split. Rumour has it that the main reason for their break-up was Aish's refusal to acknowledge their relationship publicly; additionally Aishwarya's mother never approved of Vivek because of his inability to keep their relationship clandestine. Yet another reason for parting ways was that Vivek wanted to concentrate on his career whereas the Rais wanted the two to get married as soon as possible.
After Aishwarya returned from her Hollywood shoots, she made herself busy with Bollywood projects.
At the premiere of Vivek's movie Home Delivery, Aish was nowhere present and Vivek had only come with his family which clearly proved that things really were over between the two.
~~~X~~~

And that's how somethings stand, rather precariously, in B-town. While onscreen endings in Hindi cinema are famous for their happily ever afters, off screen relationships are often on rocks.

Here's wishing for greater prevalence of harmony in Bollywood, among our many beloved stars

Priyanka and Saif all set to rock Bollywood !

Chhote Nawab and Piggy Chops - a unique combination, that we havn't seen till date. However, our wait is officially over as the the two have been roped in to star together on-screen and that too for the first time!

Siddharth Anand who has just directed Priyanka Chopra in his upcoming movie Anjaana Anjaani, is all set to be a producer in his next venture. Having already finalized the cast with the handsome hunk Saif Ali Khan playing the male lead and the current favourite Priyanka Chopra starring opposite him, the movie is all set to be co-produced by none other than Saif himself.

As per the grapevine, PC has been given the opportunity to be seen with Saif in yet another film releasing next year!

After Siddharth's film, Priyanka has given the nod to star in Vishal Bharadwaj's next. The two have already shared a working partnership in their previous super hit, Kaminey and are currently working together in Saat Khoon Maaf. Saif, having last worked with Vishal in Omkara, will play the male lead.

Bollywood has given us many hit jodis in the past, will Priyanka and Saif 's name be added to the list?

Sonam's Sweepstake?

Sonam Kapoor is an overjoyed star these days; the stunning diva of Bollywood has secured yet another delicious endorsement in her kitty.

The enchanter, who has gathered a round of applause for her stylish act in the recently released chick flick Aisha, has suddenly shot to the top of the favorites list for endorsements, leaving many a-behind. The current buzz is that Sonam has signed a multi-crore deal to endorse the popular soft drink brand of Coca-Cola. If the sources are to be believed, the lavishing actress would receive a whopping lump-sum of Rs. 3 crore to feature in the commercial.

Having already endorsed top brands such as L'oreal, Anant Diamond Jewelry and Mont Blanc, the present offer would take her to high solstice considering the previous biggies in the commercials including Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and more recently Imran Khan and Kalki Koechlin.

Though Sonam hasn't quite signed the dotted lines just yet, this pretty lass is sure to carve a niche for herself in the big, bad world of endorsing!

We, at BollyCurry, wish her all the best!

Happy Independance Day, India!

With the dawn of the 63rd Independence Day for India, we at BollyCurry are proud nationals!
And similar is the spirit witnessed among the many celebrities of tinsel town, who we manage to catch up with for a few quick takes on this special day of national pride and honour!
Without further delay, over to them...
Freida Pinto
1. What is the most patriotic thing you have ever done?
Patriotism should be how you care for your country by acting on the issues at hand, making it a better place to live in. Doing something, instead of continuously ranting "I believe in my country".
2. What does being an 'Indian' mean to you?
Pride. World's most happiest and proud person.
3. What, in your mind, is one thing that everyone could do to make our country a better place?
Voting must be made compulsory. If a person denies to vote then for the next three months, he can't purchase anything from the ration shop. If an educated individual is found not voting, he can be fined up to 1000 rs. Of course, valid reasons are acceptable. Other than that, everything else is subject to one or other sort of punishment. As a move of public influence, all celebrities must cast their vote and that should be telecasted if required, if they deny they should pay a fine.
4. What do you think is the best aspect of our culture?
Traditional Indian dresses. American clothes are uncomfortable. Where it gets very hot, it would be much more comfortable to wear loose fitting fabrics that breathe instead of fabrics that hold in body heat and clothes that pinch and bind.
Second would be the food. I love vegetables. I could easily be a vegetarian except that I like chicken and fish occasionally. And curries are yummy!
Colouring would be third. Bronze skin is so much prettier than mealy bug white.
5. Favourite memory of Independence Day?
I liked the parades held at my school when I was a kid.
Sherlyn Chopra
1. What is the most patriotic thing you have ever done?
I once distributed my own designed and hand made T-shirts bearing the Indian flag to street children in Hyderabad to wear on Independence Day.
2. What does being an 'Indian' mean to you?
World's happiest and proud person to be the citizen of the world's best country.
3. What, in your mind, is one thing that everyone could do to make our country a better place?
Fight on our own levels, against anything that compromises our national dignity.
4. What do you think is the best aspect of our culture?
It is diverse, unique and extraordinarily colourful.
5. Favourite memory of Independence Day?
It was the first time I had written a beautiful poem, In This India and everyone loved it.
Meiyang Chang
1. What is the most patriotic thing you have ever done?
I don't know if it is patriotic but I make sure I do not litter and try to propagate the same message to my friends and family so that we can live in a clean environment which makes a clean country.
2. What does being an 'Indian' mean to you?
Being an Indian means being a proud inheritor of a great past and being worthy of a glorious future, in spite of the burgeoning scepticism many of us share about it
3. What, in your mind, is one thing that everyone could do to make our country a better place
Abolish the 'crab' mentality. If we have to move forward, then it has be together. United we stand, divided we fall.
4. What do you think is the best aspect of our culture?
Our warmth and compassion towards our guests and our music.
5. Favourite memory of Independence Day?
The Independence Day program in school: the march past, the special dinner and singing patriotic songs in the school choir. I was too little to understand what I was singing, but the passionate speeches by active and current members of the army would reinforce the feeling that our country is indeed beautiful.

Being an Indian to me means a person who values family bond, inherently emotional people, very hardworking, warm, hospitable, passionate etc...
3. What, in your mind, is one thing that everyone could do to make our country a better place?
A few simple things everyone can do to make our country a better place is by not littering around, definitely not making roads and public places their personal toilets or garbage dumps etc...
4. What do you think is the best aspect of our culture?
Best aspect of our culture is definitely the closeness or the bond we share with our families and relatives.
5. Favourite memory of Independence Day?
I don't remember my favourite memory on Independence Day, but I definitely remember my most embarrassing moment on Independence Day. When I was in 6th grade, I was forced to sing a patriotic song in my school assembly inspite of a bad cold and cough and my voice cracked in front of the entire school! I still continued and again it cracked but I didn't leave the stage till I finished the song, even though everyone in the audience was having a good laugh. In fact I just bumped into an old school acquaintance who didn't really know me in school and I realized that the incident still stays with them as one of the funniest moments for them in school...yes, at my cost!
Our heartfelt ode to the men who make our history a glorious one to remember! And our hearty congratulations to all fellow Indians, on this day that we celebrate our 63rd Independence Day! Lets strive to be better people each day, to grow into a wiser, warmer, wealthier nation - Jai Hind!

Sonu's 'Scooter Dance'

What happens when a world renowned choreographer happens to loose a few moves?

Successful director, Farah Khan was been roped in by the Khans to choreograph the last minute item song addition going by the name 'Munni Badnaam Hui' for their upcoming home production, Dabangg, featured on the ravishing Malaika Arora Khan and actor Sonu Sood. However, the award winning choreographer found herself stuck when trying to come up with a few moves for a portion of the song.

And guess who came to s
ave the day?

Sonu, at that time happened to recall a hilarious dance an uncle of his used to showcase on drunk-and-out party nights! It involved certain hand and foot movements that reminded Sonu of someone driving a scooter, and the team hence fondly christian the now adopted notorious dance sequence as 'the scooter dance'!

Sonu, who has been conveniently well practiced with this 'scooter dance' through the days of college, delinquently performed it for Farah. The special dance had the entire cast and crew in stitches and Farah immediately decided to incorporate the steps into the song.

If anything, we're certain this 'scooter dance' is to become the signature move for many-a-parties in times to come!

* Priyanka's Refusal to Cut Her Hair

Actors are seen undergoing makeovers, adopting newfound skills, and even acquiring new accents all the time - merely to fulfill the needs of their onscreen characters.

For Anurag Basu's upcoming film Silence, Priyanka Chopra is to enact a mentally disturbed girl who is a deaf-mute. For this portrayal, Priyanka was required to cut her hair, and was asked to comply to the need.

Piggy Chops however, refuses to chop her precious tresses!

Apparently, the demand placed by the movie makers was not entirely whimsical either. The character that Priyanka will be playing is of a girl who lives in an asylum and to give her the appearance of a medically assisted and groomed person, an easy to maintain hair do sounded logically right .

But having put her foot down on this particular option, Priyanka wants the director to come up with an alter appearance for her character.

What surprises one is the fact that its not the first time that such a requirement was placed before the actress; and contrary to her current resistance, Priyanka has been known to experiment with her hair in movies like Love Story 2050. Unfortunately, she is doesn't seem to be half as cooperative for Basu's project.

And she has her reasons. There is the TV show Khatron Ke Khiladi and upcoming movie Don 2, to concentrate on for the while. PC believes that since Silence does not release till next year, she can manage putting off the dilemma of her character face for that movie until later.

Will she or won't Piggy Chops part with her lovely locks is a question she alone can answer - but should she, or not, is what you must let us know!

* De-Branding John!

John Abraham is not our usual celebrity. At heart, he is still the bindaas Bandra boy. And being a Bandra boy, all the actor wants to do now is de-glami-fy labels and brands that have come to define our consumerist culture.

Take the latest release Aisha, for example, which sees Sonam Kapoor decked in gorgeous outfits from high-end, expensive brands. John, on the other hand, believes that it is possible to look equally good without spending a fortune on clothes. And he is most certainly speaking from experience - the actor is known for notoriously walking into events wearing a comfortable ensemble of jeans, t-shirts and chappals - none the known tag names!

John is now all set to release a line of comfy chappals next year and hopefully following that will be a range of the inexpensive worn look t-shirts. He firmly believes that the Indian definition of 'cool' should be influenced by comfort more than anything else, and especially not the Western hype for brand names! One ought to be, in John's opinion, proud of the dhotis and Pathani suits in traditional fabrics like khadi and silk. In his words, it is only after we are at ease in our own desi clothes, that we can be confident in our own skins.

If a trend setting icon is to be established to promote desi-fashion, John can certainly be the man! And eagerly, we await his line of products - if they promise to hold half the charm of his person!

* Ranbir's New Rockstar

After much speculation, the identity of Ranbir Kapoor's new co-star in his upcoming flick, Rockstar, has been released. The film is directed by the highly successful Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met fame.

This new and hot actress, who will soon make an extravagant entrance in Bollywood, goes by the beautiful name of Nargis Fakhri.

A look into Nargis…

In addition to being half Czech and half Pakistani, this pretty damsel was born and bred in New York. In 2009, Nargis happened to be featured in the infamous Kingfisher calendar alongside various other beauties. Later, she was awarded with the golden chance to strut her stuff at the Top Model house during Cycle 3. However, an unfortunate fumble during introductions to the prestigious panel made sure that the opportunity was securely kicked out the window. Oops!

Nonetheless, Nargis was quick to make amends in stating that she had no interest at all in modeling and instead merely saw it as a way to make a small and simple living for herself.

With Rockstar finally in her kitty, things have certainly taken a favorable turn for the pretty lass. However, it has not been an easy climb to her spot. Word has it that Nargis had to go through several auditions before she could prove herself to Imtiaz and compel him to make her his final decision. Still in the works, the big project has roped in Nargis to portray the role of a dancer.

All of us here at BollyCurry wish her luck for the future and hope to see her sizzle our screens soon!

Movie Review: Peepli [Live] Is A Must Watch Satire Comedy!

A true satire comedy set in a small remote village, Peepli [Live] takes the viewers into the world of farmer's living under the poverty line. While India is growing leaps and bounds, the fact still remains that more than 50% of our country lives under the poverty line. Struggling for food, shelter and water, the poor must meet their day to day needs of survival unlike the working class of metropolitan cities who are chasing superficial materialistic objects.

Peepli [Live] is the story of Natha, a poor farmer who decides to commit suicide so that the government can award his family compensation, which will save his ancestral land. A small local TV journalist finds out about Natha's upcoming suicide and publishes it in a local newspaper. With elections around the corner, the media lands up in Peepli and soon the whole issue gets blown out of proportion.

One media party threatens Natha that he must commit suicide while another says he must live. Journalists bombard the uneducated and timid Natha and follow him to no avail. Peepli becomes a lively town with so many outsiders as the media speaks to the innocent villagers about the heroic Natha. Rural society has been a piece in a chess game for long for politicians of India but Peepli Live truly shows the extent to which our politicians can go to win their elections. Television sets are gifted to Natha's family but one wonders what good is such a product for a family that needs to meet its basic survival needs first.

Perhaps the strongest and best lesson of the film comes from the omnipresent media which viciously blows everything out of proportion for higher TRPs. While providing many laughs, the film portrays the media's habit to bombard as well as exaggerate issues. Natha's death becomes a game as at one moment reporters jump back and forth between Natha dying and not dying. Does Nathu really die or not? Well we leave that for you to discover when you watch the film on screen…

From the amazingly scripted dialogues that make one laugh from the beginning to the end to the immensely talented actors that bring the village life on screen, Peepli [Live] is an excellent film that not only entertains but also teaches many lessons. From the viciousness of the politicians and media to the struggles of the poor farmers of India for basic needs of food and shelter, Peepli [Live] is a winner in bringing on to screen some very important lessons. And yes how can one forget the old-age lesson that we always hear, 'life moves on'. Life does move on and so does the media, as people's memories are short lived. Thus though Peepli becomes alive due to the issue of Nathu's suicide, once the issue is resolved the media disappears and Peepli once again becomes a forgotten village. One must question the profession of journalism, as the chase for TRPs is malicious. Like a herd of cattle following each other, media chooses to bring to screen a comical view of the open field bathrooms of the villagers instead of a more serious issue covering the death of another impoverished farmer in the village who was found dead in the midst of pot holes that he used to dig.

The folk music in the film brings the village to life and the very popular 'Mehangayee Daayan' is sure to call for whistles in theatres. Short few line songs are apt in the script and the peppy music makes the film livelier. The strong language in the film may not be suitable for young children but the diction and choice of words is apt to portray the ordinary villager's life style. Direction by Anusha Rizvi is par excellence!

The greatest pillar of the film is the team of actors, which Aamir Khan Productions has put together for Peepli Live. Each and every villager is so convincing that by the end of the film, even metro audiences will connect with the impoverished farmers. Nathu feels like someone you may know and one feels his confusion and pain. Manikpuri as Nathu has definitely done a brilliant job. Malaika Shenoy as the television reporter and Shalini Vasta as Nathu's wife are amazing. And what can one say about the bed ridden mother's character played by Farrukh Jaffer – she is truly exceptional! Naseeruddin Shah does not have much screen space though he does justice to the limited footage given to him in the film!

Overall Peepli [Live] is a must watch for audiences! A complete entertainer with some brilliant lessons, Peepli Live is sure to make a space in the hearts of audiences worldwide!

* Movie Review: Help - Horror That Needs Serious Help!

Director Rajiv Virani's film Help has a kitty full of talent with a renowned star cast comprising of Bobby Deol and Mugdha Godse along with Shreyas Talpade in a special appearance has a kitty full. But does the film do justice to the talent on board? With a genre like horror, its surely difficult to pull audiences to theaters and so will Help be able to accomplish this tough task? Maybe, Maybe Not!

The film begins with a look into a crazy lunatic named Susan who is living in a mental asylum. Crazy drawings and her suicide set the stage of horror in the film. Next comes a jump to the ending scene in a horror film and the movie ends with Vic (Bobby Deol) and Pia (Mugdha Godse) in the audience. All is not well between the couple due to Pia's suspicion of her husband's loyalty as she feels he might be having an affair with the actress of his film. But one doesn't get to delve much into the characters' personal lives as the film jumps to Pia's father getting a heart attack and the couple flying to Mauritius.

The father survives the attack and Vic and Pia return to Pia's childhood home which is eerie. Pia's journey back into her childhood shows a twin sister, Dia, who died drowning in water. A happy family was broken into pieces with Dia's death and then later on the mother, Susan's death. Pia's father narrates the story as he remembers the happiest days of his life and claims that his wife Susan could not live with the trauma of her daughter's death. In the midst of all this, Vic and Pia sort out their personal problems due to the news of Pia's pregnancy.

But the happy days don't last long as Pia starts seeing Dia in the house at night. Squeaking doors, photo frames falling, the domesticated dog barking, and all the old-style horror film techniques instead of scaring viewers create comedy. Vic doesn't believe Pia but slowly things start changing as first Pia's friend-cum-neighbor dies and then at her funeral Vic sees Dia's ghost. Dr. Aditya Motwani (Shreyas Talpade) comes into the picture as a handicapped man who happens to be an expert in the field of spirits. Aditya's initial warning at the funeral is overlooked by Vic but after seeing Dia's ghost in Pia and almost drowning his own wife, Vic is forced to seek Aditya's advice.

Vic begins to investigate the ghost's reason for having possessed his wife and in his expedition he uncovers a tape which narrates the death of Dia. Aditya and Vic's examination leads them to believe initially that Pia may have murdered Dia. It seemed that Susan- the mother – was also already possessed. But how and why? Investigation into the hospital where Pia and Dia were born uncovers the mystery behind of the haunted spirit but unfortunately the expert Aditya dies in the fight of saving Pia from the ghost.

Overall the film just doesn't hit the mark due to the loopholes. The climax goes downhill as one is unable to understand how Pia is able to trap the ghost right in the center of the star while the plan had been of her husband's. While the grand mirrors and the destruction of the ghost are visually appealing, they can not cover up for the weak story line.

The film falls flat from the initial scenes because Bobby and Mugdha just don't look convincing on screen together as a couple. Chemistry is lacking between the two and the romance looks artificial. While romantic songs could have helped, in this situation the film doesn't entertain thoroughly also due to its music which is not only poor and painful to the ears but also forced between the story line. Some old horror film tactics as well as the unrealistic outcome of the mystery of the ghost make the film very superficial.

Speaking about the actors, Mugdha and Bobby both look terrible as well as old in the film. Mugdha has been center of media attention with the hyped bikini scene and expectations from this model turned actress are surely high after the super hit Fashion. This talented actress falls flat in the first half of the film as she is expressionless in many of her scenes. Her acting though improves in the second half and one must applaud her for having taken the liberty to appear on screen without make up in her scenes in the hospital. Yet, she looks pathetically terrible in the first half of the film as one wonders what happened to this beautiful model.

Bobby Deol comes with a class of his own on screen and though the actor may not have had a row of hits, he is known for the variety of roles he has portrayed on screen. Yet, in this film Bobby is disappointing. His character just doesn't convince audiences and nor is he able to create a connection with the viewer. A forced attempt to play the character is clearly evident. Shreyas being such a talented actor is wasted though he does justice to the few scenes he has in the film. Mrs. Gladrags Sophia Handa playing Pia's friend-cum-neighbor doesn't impress at all. Jyoti Dogra playing Susan – Mughda's mother – does a decent job in the film and proves her acting caliber well with the limited screen space given.

Overall Help falls flat as a horror film as audiences may find themselves laughing more than fearing. The film most likely will not attract audiences to the theaters and is a disappointment in the horror film genre where we have seen amazing movies like Bhoot and 13B. A film that had much potential with so much talent on board, Help just doesn't do justice to the talent of its lead actors. Help surely needs help from the audiences to pull it through!
